-----AworldoffairytaleGeographyJiuzhaigouisaverybeautifulplace.ItislocatedinAbaTibetanAutonomousPrefecture(阿坝藏族羌族自治州),SichuanProvince,coveringalandofnaturalbeauty.Jiuzhaigouisavalley.Itismorethan40kilometerslong.EcologyJiuzhaigou'secosystemisclassifiedastemperatebroad-leafforestandwoodlands,withmixedmountainandhighlandsystems.Theforeststakeonattractiveyellow,orangeandredhuesintheautumn,makingthatseasonapopularoneforvisitors.Theyarehometoanumberofplantspeciesofinterest.Localanimalsincludetheendangeredhugepandaandgoldenmonkey.Bothpopulationsareverysmallandisolated.Theirsurvivalisinquestioninavalleysubjecttoincreasingtourism.Jiuzhaigouisalsohometoapproximately140birdspecies.HistoryJiuzhaigou(literallyNineVillageValley)takesitsnamefromthenineTibetanvillagesalongitslength.TheremoteareawasinhabitedbyvariousTibetanandQiangpeoplesforcenturies.Until1975thisinaccessibleareawaslittleknown.Becomingfamoustookplaceuntil1979,whentheChinesegovernmentbannedsuchactivityandmadetheareaanationalparkin1982.Sinceopening,touristactivityhasincreasedeveryyear.TheTownofZhangzha（漳扎镇）attheexitofthevalleyandthenearbycountyfeatureanever-increasingnumberofhotels.Developmentsrelatedtosometourismintheareahavecausedconcernsabouttheimpactontheenvironmentaroundthepark.JiuzhaigouiscomposedofthreevalleysarrangedinaYshape.TheRizeandZechawavalleysflowfromthesouthandmeetatthecentreofthesitewheretheyformtheShuzhengvalley,flowingnorthtothemouthofthevalley..Hereisasummaryofthesitesfoundineachofthegullies:ZechawaValleyTheZechawaGully(则查洼沟）isthesouth-eastembranchofJinzhaigou.ItisapproximatelythesamelengthasRizegullybutclimbstoahigheraltitude.Goingdown-hillfromitshighestpoint,itfeaturesthefollowingsites.1longlack(长海)iscresent-shapedandisthehighest,largestanddeepestlackinJiuzhaigou.2Five-colorpond(五彩池)isoneofthesmallestbutmostspectacularbodiesofwaterinJiuzhaigoulakes.Despiteitsverymodestdimensionsanddepth,ithasarichlycoloredunderwaterlandscapewithsomeofthebrightestandclearestwatersinthearea3TheSeasonalLakes(季节海)areaseriesof3lakes(Lower,MiddleandUpper)alongthemainroad,thatchangefromemptytofullduringeachyear.ShuzhengValleyTheShuzhengValley(树正沟,ShùzhèngGōu)isthenorthern(main)branchofJiuzhaigouItendsafter14.5km(9mi)attheY-shapedintersectionofthethreegullies.Goingdownhillfromtheintersectiontothemouthofthevalley,visitorsencounterthefollowing1NuorilangFalls(诺日朗瀑布,NuòrìlǎngPùbù),nearthejunctionofthevalleys,are20mhighand320mwide.2NuorilangLakes(诺日朗群海,NuòrìlǎngQúnhǎi)andShuzhengLakes(树正群海ShùzhèngQúnhǎi)aresteppedseriesofrespectively18and19ribbonlakesformedbythepassageofglaciers,thennaturallydammed3SleepingDragonLake(卧龙海,WòlóngHǎi)isoneofthelowerlakesinthearea.Withadepthof20m,itisnotablefortheclearlyvisiblecalcareousdykerunningthroughit,whoseshapehasbeencomparedtoadragonlyingonthebottom.ReedLake(芦苇海,LúwěiHǎi)isa1375m-long,reed-coveredmarshwithaclearturquoisebrook(knownastheJadeRibbon)zigzagingthroughit.Thecontrastisparticularlystrikingintheautumnwhenthereedsturngoldenyellow.The18kmlongRizeValley(日则沟)isthesouth-westernbranchofJiuzhaigou.Itcontainsthelargestvarietyofsitesandistypicallyvisitedfirst.Goingdownhillfromitshighestpoint,onepassesthefollowingsites:ThePrimevalForest(原始森林)isapreservedancientwoodland.Itisfrontedbyspectacularviewsofthesurroundingmountainsandcliffs,includingthe500mhighblade-shapedSwordRock(剑岩).ArrowBambooLake(箭竹海)isashallowlakewithadepthof6m.Itliesatanelevationof2,618m,andwasamainfeaturesiteforthe2002ChinesefilmHero.PearlShoal(珍珠滩)isawide,gentlyslopingareaofactivecalcareoustufadepositioncoveredinathinsheetofflowingwater.FiveFlowerLake(五花海)isashallowmulti-coloredlakewhosebottomiscriss-crossedbyancientfallentreetrunks.SwanLake(天鹅海)isa2250mlong,125mwidepicturesquelakenamedforitsvisitingswansandducks.TourismTheZharuValley(扎如沟)runssoutheastfromthemainShuzhenggully(树正沟壑）andisrarelyvisitedbytourists.ThevalleybeginsattheZharuBuddhistmonastery（扎如寺）andendsattheRed（红池）,Black（黑海）,andDalinglakes.ZharuValleyisthehomeoftourisminJiuzhaigou.Thevalleyhasrecentlybeenopenedtoasmallnumberoftouristswishingtogohikingandcampingoffthebeatentrack.Visitorscanchoosefromdaywalksandmultipledayhikes,dependingontheirtimeavailability.Knowledgeableguidesaccompanytouriststhroughthevalley,sharingtheirknowledgeabouttheuniquebiodiversity（生物多样性）andlocalcultureofthenationalpark.TheZharuValleyhas40%ofalltheplantspeciesthatexistinChinaanditisthebestplacetospotwildlifeinsidethenationalpark.Themainhikefollowsthepilgrimage(朝圣之路）ofthelocalBenboBuddhistscircumnavigating（苯波佛教的环航）thesacred4,528mZhaYiZhaGaMountain（扎嘎神山)
