PERSONALSTATEMENTBy麦兜CurrentlyastudentofeconomicsattheXXXUniversity,IamapplyingforadmittanceintoyourgraduateprogramofHumanResourceManagement.IthaslongbeenmywishtobetrainedinHumanResourceManagementtheoriesandbecomeahumanresourcemanagerinthefuture.BroughtupinaneducatedfamilyinGuangzhou,Icultivatedtheloveofreadingtosatisfymycuriosityeveninmychildhood.Gradually,myinterestandcuriosityhavemademecommittedtowardbusinessmanagementespeciallythehumanresource.Readinghashadagreatinfluenceonmylife.IcanclearlyrememberthatthedreamofbecomingarealhumanresourcemanagerbegantogrowinsidemeafterreadingsomebooksaboutHumanResourceManagementinChinaandinsomeforeigncountries.Aprestigiousinstitutionofhigherlearning,XXXUniversityislocatedinGuangdong,oneofChina’ssouthernprovincesandoneoftheearliestthathasbenefitedfromthe“reformandopen-door”policy.Itishonoredasoneofthetop100universitiesofthe21stcenturyinChina.Thus,myeducationischaracterizedbyindisputableexcellence.Inmyundergraduatestudies,Ihavehadbroadacademicinterests,althoughIammajoringineconomics.Ireadacademicjournalsregularly,bothChineseandInternational,tokeepupwiththelatestdevelopmentsineconomicsandotherrelatedfields.IhavedevotedconsiderabletimetolearningsuchsubjectsasmanagementandlawtosatisfymyinterestinHumanResourceManagement.Afteralotofreadings,Ihavecometoknowaboutpeople,humanresources,howtomakeorganizationsmoreawareoftheimportanceofhumanresources;beinganemployeeinthebusinessofpeople----thesethingsarecommoninourmodernsociety.HumanResourceManagementisspecificallychargedwithprogramsconcernedwithpeople----theemployees.Itisthefunctionperformedinorganizationalandindividuals’goals.Humanresourcemanagementconsistsofnumerousactivities,including“equalemploymentopportunity(EEO)compliance;jobanalysis;humanresourceplanningandemployeerecruitment,selection,motivation,andorientation;performanceevaluationandcompensation;traininganddevelopment;laborrelations;andsafety,health,andwellnessetc.Inrecognitionofmyacademicperformanceandotherstrengths,Ihavewonmanyhonorsandaccoladesduringmystudies.In2003and2004IwontheExcellenceSocialActivitiesStudentfortwoconsecutiveyears.CampuslifeiscolorfulandIhavetakentheadvantagesofalltheopportunitiestoenrichmyself.IwaselectedtheVice-Secretary-GeneraloftheStudents’Union,becomingthemostprominentfemalestudentleaderoncampusatthattime.Thispositiongavemeaplatform,whichnotonlyenrichedmystudentlife,butalsoimprovedmyabilityinmanywaysparticularlyinleadershipandcommunication.Thereisnodoubtthatthoseabilitiesareimportanttothehumanresourcemanager.ThoughIhavenothadanyacademicbackgroundinHumanResourceManagement,myundergraduateexperiencescanprovidemewithaspecialperspectiveandsufficientanalyticskillstosolveproblemsinmyfuturestudy.Inmysecondacademicyear,withthehelpofmyteacherinlogisticsandmycousin,IstudiedthemodernlogisticsindustryinChinaincomparisonwiththeadvancedcountries.Inmyarticle,“XXX”,ImadeananalysisofthefuturemodernlogisticsindustryinChina,especiallyundertheE-Business.FortunatelymyarticlewaspublishedinoneofthepopularacademicmagazinesinChina.Suchbackgroundwillbenefitmealotinmyfuturestudyandresearch.ThereasonwhyIwanttogototheUnitedKingdomtostudyHumanResourceManagementisthatthehistoryofHumanResourceManagementhasitsorigininEngland.ThisfieldsawfurtherdevelopmentwiththearrivaloftheIndustrialRevolutioninthelatterpartofthe18thcentury.Thedynamiccreativeindustryinthiscountryreallyattractsmealot.IamattractedtoyourdepartmentwithitsbrilliantfacultyanditsresearchthematicareasareexactlywhatIaminterestedin.Tofulfillmycareergoal,Iintendtopursuemymasterprogramandfurthermystudyinaprogrambestfitforme.AfterIfinishmystudy,IwillcomebacktoChinaandservemycountryasanemployeeinHumanResourceManagement.Iwouldreallyappreciateyourseriousconsiderationofmyapplication,becauseitisaftermuchponderingthatIsendinmyapplication.Ihopeyourwouldopenupanewandsplendidacademicfutureforme,anditismyhonortobeastudentinhumanresourcemanagementinXXXUniversity.
