GENERALMOTORSSUPPLIERQUALITYGENERALPROCEDURERUN@RATEGP-9GeneralMotorsCorp.Page1PublishedbyWorldwidePurchasingGM1960July20031.PurposeThepurposeoftheRun@Rateactivityistoverifythatasupplier’sactualmanufacturingprocess,whileoperatingundernormaloperatingconditions,andunderTotalCustomerRequirement,is:A.Capableofproducingqualitycomponents/systems/modules,asstatedintheProductionPartApprovalProcess(PPAP)(referenceAttachmentB-ProcessControlAudit),and…B.Capableofmeetingorexceedingthedailycontractedcapacitywithinoneproductionday,onasustainedbasis(referenceCapacityAnalysisWorksheets-AttachmentsC,C-1,C-2,C-3.)Note:ItisexpectedthatthedailycontractedcapacityisequaltoorgreaterthanthedailyLCR.Note:“TotalCustomerRequirement”IncludesAllcustomerrequirements(otherGMServiceParts/After-SalesandotherOEM’s.)Additionally,otherelementsofsystemsreadinessmaybereviewedandnotedtoensurethatpotentialstartofproductionproblemsareidentifiedandaddressed(referenceAttachmentD-PlantReadinessQuestionnaire.)2.ScopeThisprocedureappliestoallmanufacturingandassemblyprocessescontractedtoGeneralMotorsto:A.Producenewcomponents/systemsormodulesB.IncreaseexistingcapacityonpreviouslycontractedvolumeC.ToolandequipmentmovestonewmanufacturinglocationsTheapplicationofthisproceduremayberequiredforchangestoexistingprocesseswhereitisdeemedthatthecapabilityand/orcapacityofthesystemhavebeenaltered.Note:AnexemptionfromthisprocesscanonlybegrantedwiththewrittenapprovaloftheQualityandPurchasingDirectorsoftheprocuringdivisionGENERALMOTORSSUPPLIERQUALITYGENERALPROCEDURERUN@RATEGP-9GeneralMotorsCorp.Page2PublishedbyWorldwidePurchasingGM1960July20033.TypeOfRun@RateGMSupplierQualitywillconfirmthetypeofRun@Rate.ThesupplierwillbenotifiedoftheneedtoperformaCustomerMonitoredorSupplierMonitoredRun@RateasearlyintheAdvancedProductQualityPlanningProcessaspossible.4.GeneralInformationA.DurationOfRun@RateThedurationoftheRun@RatewillbesufficienttoverifythattheprocesscanmeetthecontractedcapacitywhileproducingtheTotalCustomerRequirement.ThedefaultlengthoftheRun@Ratewillbeequaltothedailycontractedhours.However,theauthorizedCustomerRepresentative(SQE)maydeviatefromthedefaultduration(uponapprovalfromtheirmanager)aftertakingintoconsiderationthefollowingfactors:ProductComplexityShelfLifeStorage&PackagingCostProductionDayLengthB.TimingOfRun@RateTheRun@RateshouldbeperformedafterthesupplierhasattainedaninterimorfullyapprovedPPAPsubmission,andnolaterthaneightweekspriortostartofregularproduction.C.SupplierPreparationForACustomerMonitoredRun@Rate1.ToensurereadinessbeforetheRun@Rateisperformed,thesupplierwillconductapracticeRun@Rateand/orproductionsimulations,aswellascompletethefollowingRun@Rateworksheetattachments:AttachmentB–ProcessControlPlanAuditAttachmentsC,C-1,C-2,andC-3–CapacityAnalysisWorksheetsAttachmentD–PlantReadinessAudit2.RequestsforchangestotheRun@RateschedulemustbesubmittedtotheauthorizedCustomerRepresentative(SQE)atleasttwo(2)weekspriortotheRun@Rate.GENERALMOTORSSUPPLIERQUALITYGENERALPROCEDURERUN@RATEGP-9GeneralMotorsCorp.Page3PublishedbyWorldwidePurchasingGM1960July2003Note:SupplierwillnotbedeemedreadyforaRun@RateuntilallrequireddocumentationhasbeenproperlyfilledoutandforwardedinadvancetotheprocuringdivisionauthorizedCustomerRepresentative(SQE).D.RequiredParticipationAndCoverage1.CustomerMonitoredArepresentativefromtheprocuringdivisionistobepresentfortheentireRun@Rate.NoportionoftheRun@Rateshouldbeperformedwithoutrepresentationfromtheprocuringdivision.If,however,itisclearlyevidentthatthesystemscapacityiswellabovethecontractedrequirement,theauthorizedCustomerRepresentative(SQE)mayaccepttheresultsofaportionoftheRun@Ratewithoutbeingpresent.TheleadCustomerRepresentativetypicallywillbetheSupplierQualityEngineer,withparticipationfromtheBuyerand/orReleaseEngineeruponrequest.2.SupplierMonitoredTheleadsupplierrepresentativeisresponsibleforensuringthattheRun@RateisperformedasdetailedinthisGP-9Procedure.Theleadsupplierrepresentative(ProjectManager)ortheirdesignatemustbepresentduringtheentireRun@Rate.Note:Within24hoursofcompletingtheformalRun@Rate,theSuppliermustcompletetheRun@RateSummarysheet(AttachmentA)andtheQualityandCapacityworksheets(AttachmentsB,CandD)andforwardthemtotheProcuringDivisionSQE.Note:Equipmentsuppliersand/orsubcontractorsmaybeaskedtoparticipateineithercustomerorsuppliermonitoredRun@Rates.E.SubcontractorRequirementSuppliersarerequiredtoensurethereliabilityoftheirsuppliers.Writtenconfirmationofdailycontractedrequirements,aswellasactualsystemsperformanceforQuality,CapacityandDelivery,mustbeprovidedtothecustomerprocuringdivisionauthorizedCustomerRepresentative(SQE)priortotheRun@Rate.Whereanon-sitestudyisconductedatasubcontractor,itisrecommendedthatthisGP-9Run@Rateprocessbeutilized.GENERALMOTORSSUPPLIERQUALITYGENERALPROCEDURERUN@RATEGP-9GeneralMotorsCorp.Page4PublishedbyWorldwidePurchasingGM1960July2003F.InventoryFinishedpartsinventoryresultingfromproductionrunstopreparefororcompleteaRun@Rate,willbetheresponsibilityofthesupplier.Thisinventorywillbehelduntilscheduledfors
