ThesignificanceoftheCivilWarAsisknowntoall,theCivilWarhasplayedasignificantroleduringthewholedevelopmentoftheUnitedStates,whichisconsideredasanimportantmilestoneinAmerica’shistory.Thoughthewarhascauseduncalculatedcausalities,theinfluencesisfar-reachingthatcannotbeignored.Inthefirsthalfofthe19thcentury,westwardexpansionintheterritoryoftheUnitedStatesintheprocessofsettingupanewseriesofWesternstates,asiscalledthefamous“WestwardMovement”.Themovementmadethelaborforce’layoutofUnitedStateschanged;itpromotedtheformationofunified,domesticmarketsanddevelopedrapidoftheeasternandwesterncommercialcomplementary.However,ontheotherhand,itmadethecontradictionbetweenthetwokindsofeconomicascended.Inthemid-19thcentury,theconflictwasinthemostintenseasthenorthernbourgeoisiesandthepeasantssupportedtoconversetherawmaterialsanddomesticmarketswhostressedtoenlargeexportsandfreelaborforce,whilethesouthernslave-ownersattemptedtoextendedslaverytotheWestwhentheytransportedthecottontoEnglandandimportedindustrialproductsinsteadinthemeantime.In1860,AbrahamLincoln,thecandidateofRepublicanParty,waselectedpresident.Afterthen,elevenstatessecededfromtheUnioninsuccessionandcreatedaseparateConfederatednation,whichresultedinthebreakoutoftheCivilWarinApril,1861.Atthebeginningofthewar,thestrengthoftheNorthfarexceededthatoftheSouthwithagreatadvantage.Besides,theNorthhadadvancedindustry,railwaynetworkconnectionsandrichreserveoffoodwhiletheSouthhadevennoindustryorrailway.However,themilitaryofSouthwasfullypreparedwithallthearming,equipmentandmoresophisticatedmilitaryhardware.Moreover,Lincolnintheearlyyearsofthewar’saimwasjusttorestoretheunityoftheSouthandtheNorth,sothegovernmentdidn’tdeclaretheliberationoftheNorthernslaves.Therefore,inthefirstphaseofthewar,theNorthsuffereddefeatinthemilitary,inspiteofaseriesofbrilliantvictoryattheNorth-Westline.Facedwiththeinferiorcircumstance,Lincolnbecameawareoftheneedfortheliberationofslaves.InMay,1862,LincolnissuedHomesteadAct.OnSeptember22inthesameyear,hepromulgatedEmancipationProclamation,announcedthatbeforeJanuary1st,1863,iftheSouthrebelsstilldidnotlaydowntheirarms,theslavestateswouldbefreesincethatday.NewsspreadtotheSouthandthousandsofslavesfledtotheNorth.EventheBritishworkingclasslaunchedacampaigntosupporttheNorth,forcingtheBritishgovernmenttogiveuptheoriginalplanofinterferingintheCivilWar.Meanwhile,afterLincolngovernmenttakingaseriesofpowerfulactions,largeamountsofslavesenrolledinthenorthernarmy.In1863,thenorthernmilitarystartedtoturnaround.Atthesameyear,onJuly1st,theGettysburgvictoryhadbecomeanimportantturningpointintheCivilWar.Fromthenon,theNorthpossessedtheinitiativegradually.In1864,supremecommanderoftheNorthadoptedanewtacticthathesimultaneouslylaunchedtwopowerfulcontrarylinestotheEastandtheWest.Ononeside,theyaimedatconsumingthepowerofthemainobjectivesoftheenemyintheEast;intheWest,ontheotherside,theypenetratedintotheinterioroftheenemywithastrongforceandcutofftheconnectionsofthenorth-eastandthesouth-eastofthe“Southernalliances”.Afterwards,thefamousmovement“Marchtotheocean”completelydestroyedtheenemy’smilitaryfacilities.TheSoutherneconomicalsofellintoparalysis.OnApril9th,1865,thesoutherntroopswerebesiegedbytheNorthernarmies.Forlackoffoodanddailynecessities,theSouthhadtoyieldtotheNorth,thusendingtheCivilWarwhichlastedforfuryears.InadditiontoagreatdisparityinstrengthandthelandslideadvantagestheNorthpossessed,themostimportantpointisthatthewartheytookpartinisaimedatgettingridofslaverytoemancipateblackslavesandfinallykeepunityofthecountryandisaworthycareer.Apartfromit,beinghelpedbythegreatmassesofAmericaandsupportedbyworldpeoplesisthedeterminingfactor.Allkindsofclassesofthenorthpeoplefoughtagainsttheenemywithhighenthusiasmandexpandedvariousformsofstrugglestoforcethegovernmenttochangetheprimitivelynegativestrategy.PresidentLincolncouldfollowthehistoricaltrendandacceptedpeople’swillasabourgeoispolitician,takingactionstofreeblackslavesandarmthem.What’smore,hepromulgatedHomesteadActandmademilitaryreform,thusincreasinglymotivatingthenorthpeopleandthesouthernslavestodevotingthemselvestothewar.BlackslavesgotawayfromtheSouthonalargescaleandtheirriotnotonlydestroyedthesoutherneconomybutalsopinneddowntheenemy’smilitaryforces.Lincolnoncegaveahighappraisaltotheblackfortheiroutstandingcontributions.Furthermore,whitelaborsintheSouthalsoboycottedthereactionaryruleofslave-ownerswithavarietyofactions,includingescapingfromescuage,stagingstrikesandinsurrections,whichofferedhelptotheNorthinthemilitaryanddefeatedtheSouthinthebattle.Meanwhile,alargenumberofrevolutionaryfightersactivelyjoinedinthewar,whichpushedthevictoryoftheNorth.TheAmericanCivilWarhaspossessedaprominentpositioninmilitaryhistoryintheUnitedStatesandeventheworld;thisisbecausethiswarhasmanycharacteristicsofmodernwar.Inthefirstplace,itsscaleismagnitudeaswiththesamecharacteristicofmodernwars.IntheCivilWar,bothsidesmobilizedallthemanpowerandmaterialresources.Thegoalofthewarismoreclearwhichiscompletelyconquertheopposite.Theynotonlywantedtoannihilatetheenemytroops,butalsotodes
