PersonalStatementIamXXX,asecond-yearundergraduatestudentofCollegeofMaterialandChemicalEngineering,XXUniversity,China.ImajorinMaterialsScienceandEngineering.Inowsincerelyapplyforanopportunitytostudyaone-yearundergraduatecourseintheUniversityofUtah/USA/materialsscienceandengineering.Mystronginterestinchemistrystartedinmyhighschoolyears.Iwasthenveryproudofknowingmorechemicalexperimentsandphenomenathanmycompanions.Ievenhadmyownin-houselaboratoryforsmallexperiments.Ihavebeenfortunatetobeabletoparticipateinthestudyoftworesearchtopics—i.e.theresearchintoanti-pollution-and-damagebio-materialsinoceans(ledbyAssociateProfessorTANGMinoftheBiologicalEngineeringprogram)sinceApril,2011,andtheprojecttoextractsemi-cellulosefromcoconuthusk(ledbyProfessorCHENYongoftheMaterialsScienceandEngineeringprogram)sinceSeptember,2011.Thoughitistime-consuming,thishands-onexperiencehasbeenahappydailyworkforme,inwhichIcombinemytheorylearningwithrealpractice.Ihavefoundmyselfmoreskillfulwithhands,knowingmoreaboutvariousexperimentsandinstruments.Apartfromacademicstudy,Ialsotakepartinvariousextracurricularactivities.Forinstance,electedastheDirectorofScienceandTechnologyfortheCollegeYouthLeagueonOctober,2010,Iamresponsiblefororganizingallkindsofactivitivesinscienceandtechnology.Atthispost,Ihavedevelopeddifferentabilitiesandfeltveryhappy.AlthoughinthebeginningIfoundithardtocoordinatepeopleandgetthingsorganized,Igraduallylearnedtoclassifymyteammembersandassigntaskstothemaccordingtotheircharacters.Throughpractice,Icannowfindtherightmanfortherighttask,forinstance,theout-goingforcommunicationandcoordinationwork,theassertiveandinnovativeforpreparinganddesigningwork,andthepeoplewithforesightandattractionformakingagendaanddelegating.Inthemeantime,asacadreofmycollege,IgiveahelpinghandtomyfellowstudentswhereIcanwhentheymeetwithdifficultiesinstudyandotheraspects.Asaresult,Ihaveformeddeepfriendshipwithmyclassmates.Asidefromtheabove,Iamveryinterestedinmusic,andIliketoplaythepianoandclarinetinmysparetime.Aftertheone-yearstudyinyouruniversity,IplantocomebacktoHainanUniversitytofinishmylastundergraduateyear.Ibelievethattherichteachingexperienceofyouruniversityandmyownsolidlearningfoundationwillenablemetogetwell-preparedformyfuturepostgraduatestudy.IameagertocontributionmyselftothedevelopmentofMaterialsScienceofChina.Thankyouforconsideringmyapplication.
