读书破万卷下笔如有神（中英）希拉里在联合国第四届妇女大会上的演讲Mrs.Mongella,UnderSecretaryKittani,distinguisheddelegatesandguests:IwouldliketothanktheSecretaryGeneralforinvitingmetobeapartoftheUnitedNationsFourthWorldConferenceofWomen.Thisistrulyacelebration--acelebrationofthecontributionswomenmakeineveryaspectoflife:inthehome,onthejob,intheircommunities,asmothers,wives,sisters,daughters,learners,workers,citizensandleaders.Itisalsoacomingtogether,muchofthewaywomencometogethereverdayineverycountry.Wecometogetherinfieldsandfactories.invillagemarketsandsupermarkets.inlivingroomsandboardrooms.这也是一次聚会，如同每个国家的妇女每天都在发生的聚会。我们在田野和工厂里聚会。我们在乡村市场和超级市场里聚会。我们在起居室和会议室里聚会。Whetheritiswhileplayingwithourchildreninthepark,orwashingclothesinariver,ortakingabreakattheofficewatercooler,wecometogetherandtalkaboutouraspirationsandconcern.Andtimeagain,ourtalkturnstoourchildrenandourfamilies.Howeverdifferentwemaybe,thereisfarmorethatunitesusthandividesus.Weshareacommonfuture,andareheretofindcommongroundsothatwemayhelpbringnewdignityandrespecttowomenandgirlsallovertheworld.Andissodoingthis,webringnewstrengthandstabilitytofamiliesaswell.无论是和孩子们在公司园玩耍，或是在河水中洗衣，还是在公司饮水处的小憩，我们聚在一起，谈着我们的渴望和关注。一次又一次，我们的话题转到孩子与家庭。无论我们之间可能会是多么地不同，但共同之处总要比不同之处多得多。我们分享着一个共同的未来，来到这里寻找共同的土壤以使我们可能帮助世界各地的妇女和女孩们赢得崭新的尊严与尊敬。这个工作，也使我们给家庭带去新的活力与稳定。BygatheringinBeijing,wearefocusingworldattentiononissuesthatmattermostinthelivesofwomenandtheirfamilies:accesstoeducation,healthcare,jobsandcredit,thechancetoenjoybasiclegalandhumanrightsandparticipatefullyinthepoliticallifeoftheircountries.我们聚会在北京，令世界的焦点关注于妇女和家庭：涉及到教育、卫生保健、工作、信用、享受基本法律与人权以及在她们的国家中完全参与政治生活的的机会等等。Therearesomewhoquestionthereasonforthisconference.Letthemlistentothevoicesofwomenintheirhomes,neighborhoods,andworkplaces.Therearesomewhowonderwhetherthelivesofwomenandgirlsmattertoeconomicandpoliticalprogressaroundtheglobe.LetthemlookatthewomengatheredhereandatHuairou--thehomemakers,nurses,teachers,lawyers,policymakers,andwomenwhoruntheirownbusinesses.总有些人置疑这次大会的必要性。让他们听听来自他们家中的、邻里的和工作中的妇女的声音吧！总有些人怀疑妇女和女孩们的生活对于世界经济与政治进步是否重要。让他们来看看聚集在这里和怀柔的妇女吧，她们中有家庭主妇、护士、教师、律师、政策制定者和生意界里的妇女。Itisconferenceslikethisthatcompelgovernmentsandpeopleeverywheretolisten,lookandfacetheworld’smostpressingproblems.Wasn’titafterthewomen’sconferenceinNairobitenyearsagothattheworldfocusedforthefirsttimeonthecrisisofdomesticviolence?Earliertoday,IparticipatedinaWorldHealthOrganizationforum,wheregovernmentofficials,NGOs,andindividualcitizensareworkingonwaystoaddressthehealthproblemsofwomenandgirls.Tomorrow,IwillattendagatheringoftheUnitedNationsDevelopmentFundforWomen.There,thediscussionwillfocusonlocal--andhighlysuccessful--programsthatgivehard-workingwomenaccesstocreditsotheycanimprovetheirownlivesandthelivesoftheirfamilies.读书破万卷下笔如有神这样的大会迫使各国政府与各地民众倾听、注意并面对世界最紧要的问题。十年前在内罗毕的妇女大会之后，整个世界不是才第一次关注到家庭暴力的危机吗？今天早上，我参加了世界卫生组织论坛，会上政府官员们、非政府组织和个体民众们致力于解决妇女和女孩们的健康问题的工作方案。明天，我将参加一个为妇女设立联合国发展基金的会议。会上将集中讨论本地的一个非常成功的计划，该计划是为那些工作努力的妇女们提供赊购，使她们能够改善自己的和家庭的生活。Whatwearelearningaroundtheworldisthatifwomenarehealthyandeducated,theirfamilieswillflourish.Ifwomenarefreefromviolence,theirfamilieswillflourish.Ifwomenhaveachancetoworkandearnasfullandequalpartnersinsociety,theirfamilieswillflourish.Andwhenfamiliesflourish,communitiesandnationswillflourish.Thatiswhyeverywoman,everyman,everychild,everyfamily,andeverynationonourplanethasastakeinthediscussionthattakesplacehere.我们从世界各地学到的是，如果妇女是健康的、受过教育的，她们的家庭会兴旺；如果妇女远离了暴力，她们的家庭会兴旺。如果妇女有机会工作并在社会中完全平等地获得报酬，她们的家庭会兴旺。而家庭兴旺了，社会与国家将会兴旺。这就是为什么每个妇女、每个男人、每个孩子、每个家庭以及地球上的每个国家都应该关心这里所发生的讨论。Overthepast25years,Ihaveworkedpersistentlyonissuesrelatingtowomen,children,andfamilies.Overthepasttwo-and-ahalfyears,Ihavehadtheopportunitytolearnmoreaboutthechallengesfacingwomeninmyowncountryandaroundtheworld.在过去的25年里，我一直致力于有关妇女、儿童和家庭的问题。在过去的两年半里，我有机会学到了更多的我的国家和世界上的妇女面临的挑战。IhavemetnewmothersinJojakartaandIndonesia,whocometogetherregularlyintheirvillagetodiscussnutrition,familyplanning,andbabycare.IhavemetworkingparentsinDenmarkwhotalkaboutthecomforttheyfeelinknowingthattheirchildrencanbecaredforincreative,safe,andnurturingafter-schoolcenters.IhavemetwomeninSouthAfricawhohelpedleadthestruggletoendapartheidandarenowhelpingbuildanewdemocracy.我在Jojakarta和印尼会见了一些初为人母的妇女，她们经常地在她们的村子里聚会，一起讨论有关营养、计划生育和婴儿护理的问题。我在丹麦会见了一些又职工父母们，他们谈到他们了解了孩子们在校外的寄托中心里被以有创造性、安全而有营养的方式照顾时感到的欣慰。我在南非会见了一些经引导后为终止各族隔离而斗争的妇女，她们现在正在帮助构建新的民主政治。IhavemetwiththeleadingwomenoftheWesternHemispherewhoareworkingeverydaytopromoteliteracyandbetterhealthcareforthechildrenoftheircountries.IhavemetwomeninIndiaandBangladeshwhoaretakingoutsmallloanstobuymilkcows,rickshaws,threadandothermaterialstocreatealivelihoodforthemselvesandtheirfamilies.IhavemetdoctorsandnursesinBelarusandUkrainewhoaretryingtokeepchildrenaliveintheaftermathofChernobyl.我见到了西半球的主流妇女们，她们每天都致力于为她们的国家推广扫盲和更好的儿童健康护理的工作。我在印度和孟加拉见到了一些妇女，她们通过小额贷款买奶牛、人力车、细丝和其它原料，为她们自己和她们的家庭创造出一条出路。我在白俄罗斯和乌克兰见到了一些妇女，她们尝试让受到切尔诺贝利核污染的孩子们活下来。读书破万卷下笔如有神ThegreatchallengeofthisConferenceistogivevoicetowomeneverywherewhoseexperiencesgounnoticed,whosewordsgounheard.Womencomprisemorethanhalftheword’sp
