HisHeartFillswithPleasure----AboutWordsworthandHisPoemWhenweheararealpoem,itcanhelpusunderstandthepowerandlonglifeofgreatpoetry.Poetryisdifferentfromthenovel,newspaper;itismoreintensethanotherwriting,whichmoreintensewithfeeling.Anditisthetruelanguageofemotion.Atsuchtime,ImightwishIwasapoet,butnot.SoIlikereadthepoetry,especiallythe“Iwanderedlonelyasacloud”,foritisapleasuretolistento,anditsoundsnaturallytotheear.WilliamWordsworth,therepresentativeoftheearlyromanticism,Hewasbornin1770andinalawyer’sfamily.HestudiedatCambridgefrom1787to1791.Atthattime,hewasawarmsupporteroftheFrenchrevolution.In1797,hemadefriendswithColeridgeandtheywritethe“TheRimeoftheAncientMariner”.Late,Wordsworth’sattitudetotherevolutionchangedandhegaveuphisformerpoliticalopinion,andhelivedintheLakePistrict.HeandColerige,southeywerecalledLakePoet.Becausetheylivedinthesameplaceandsharedthesimilarviewofliteraryandsocialintheirwork.And,hewasmadePoetLaureatein1843,anddiedin1850.Suchas“Iwanderedlonelyasacloud”,isthemajorworksWordsworth.Thepoemdescribesthepoet’sownexperienceinhistrip.Inthepoem,Wordsworthsingstheharmonybetweennatureandthepoethimself.Anditiswritteniniambictetrameterandtherhymeof“ababcc”ineachstanza.“Foroft,whenonmycouchIlie/Invacantorinpensivemood,/Theyflashuponthatinwardeye/Whichistheblissofsolitude;/Andthenmyheartwithpleasurefills/Anddanceswiththedaffodils.”Itistriggeredthememoriesofpoet.Everythingisbeautiful.Hisheartfillswithpleasure.Thepoetwanderedlonelyasacloudonhighvalesandhills.Suddenlysawthegoldendaffodils.Besidethelake,thedaffodilsseemlyaredancinginthebreeze.“Continuousasthestarsthatshine/AndtwinkleontheMilkyWay,/Theystretchedinnever-endingline/Alongthemarginofabay:/TenthousandsawIataglance/Tossingtheirheadsinsprightlydance.”Inthisstanza,thepoetenjoysthemusicofwindanddanceofthedaffodils.Hesawthedaffodilswiththenewsight.Hetriestocommunicatewiththebeautifulsceneryandfeelsbacktonature.“Whatwealththeshowtomehadbrought./thewavesbesidethemdanced,butthey/Out-didthesparklingwavesinglee:/Apoetcouldnotbutbegay/Insuchajocundcompany:/Igazed-andgazed-butlittlethought”Then,thepoetexpressedhisdelightinthesun,thehills,theflowers,thewind,andthefragrance,intheinnocenceofeverything.Heachievesgreatsuccessinhispleasureandthenaturewithenthusiasmtopaintvividpictureofdaffodils.Inaword,ithasthebeautyofdiction,thebeautyofrhythmandbeautyofimagery.Andheremainedapoetinhispaintingandapainterinhispoetry.Beside,Wordsworthbasedhisownpoeticalwaysonthepremisethatthegoodpoetryistheunconsciousoverflowofstrongfeeling.Hemadehisindividualemotion,pleasure,andfeeling,asthebaseinthecreationandappreciatesofpoetry.
