ApplicationforCISACertification5/2012RequirementstoBecomeaCertifiedInformationSystemsAuditorEFFECTIVEWITHAPPLICATIONSSUBMITTED1JUNE2012ANDFORWARD,THEREISAREQUIREDUSD$50PROCESSINGFEEFORAPPLYINGFORCERTIFICATION.PaymentfortheCISAapplicationprocessingfeecanbemadeonlineat(CISA),anapplicantmust:1.ScoreapassinggradeontheCISAexam.ApassingscoreontheCISAexam,withoutcompletingtherequiredworkexperienceasoutlinedbelow,willonlybevalidforfiveyears.IftheapplicantdoesnotmeettheCISAcertificationrequirementswithinthefiveyearperiod,thepassingscorewillbevoided.2.SubmitpaymentfortheCISAapplicationprocessingfeeofUS$50onlineat(Forapplicationssubmittedafter1June2012.)3.SubmitverifiedevidenceoffiveyearsworkexperienceinthefieldsofInformationSystemsAuditing,Control,AssuranceorSecurity.Workexperiencemustbegainedwithinthetenyearperiodprecedingtheapplicationdateforcertificationorwithinfiveyearsfromthedateofinitiallypassingtheexam.Substitutionsandwaiversofsuchexperience,toamaximumof3years,maybeobtainedasfollows:QAmaximumofoneyearofinformationsystemsORoneyearofnon-ISauditingexperiencecanbesubstitutedforoneyearofinformationsystemsauditing,control,assuranceorsecurityexperience;Q60to120completeduniversitysemestercredithours(theequivalentofatwo-yearorfour-yeardegree),notlimitedbythetenyearprecedingrestriction,canbesubstitutedforoneortwoyears,respectively,ofinformationsystemsauditing,controlorsecurityexperience.Evenifmultipledegreeshavebeenearned,amaximumof2yearscanbeclaimed.QAbachelor’sormaster’sdegreefromauniversitythatenforcestheISACAsponsoredModelCurriculacanbesubstitutedforoneyearofinformationsystemsauditing,control,assuranceorsecurityexperience.Toviewalistoftheseschools,pleasevisit’sdegreeininformationsecurityorinformationtechnologyfromanaccrediteduniversitycanbesubstitutedforoneyearofexperience.QTwoyearwaiverforCIMA(CharteredInstituteofManagementAccountants)fullcertification.NowaiverisprovidedfortheCIMACertificateinBusinessAccountingortheCIMAAdvancedDiplomainManagementAccounting,bothearnedenroutetobecomingfullyqualified.(TheCIMAfullcertificationwaiverisinlieuofthe2-yearCISAwaiverforabachelor’sdegree.Thoseindividualswhohavea2-yearCISAwaiverfortheirbachelor’sdegreecannotalsoclaimtheCIMAwaiver.)MustprovideacopyofCIMAcertificationasverification.QTwoyearwaiverforACCAmemberstatusfromtheAssociationofCharteredCertifiedAccountants.MustprovidecopyofACCAcertificationasverification.(Thoseindividualswhohavea2-yearCISAwaiverfortheirbachelor’sdegreecannotalsoclaimtheACCAwaiver.)Exception:Twoyearsasafull-timeuniversityinstructorinarelatedfield(e.g.;computerscience,accounting,informationsystemsauditing)canbesubstitutedforeveryoneyearofinformationsystemsauditing,controlorsecurityexperience.Asanexample,ataminimum(assumingatwo-yearwaiverofexperiencebysubstituting120universitycredits)anapplicantmusthavethreeyearsofactualworkexperience.Thisexperiencecanbecompletedby:Qthreeyearsinformationsystemsaudit,control,assurance,orsecurityexperience;ORQtwoyearsinformationsystemsaudit,control,assurance,orsecurityexperienceandonefullyearnon-ISauditorinformationsystemsexperienceortwoyearsasafull-timeuniversityinstructor.4.AgreetoabidebytheISACACodeofProfessionalEthics.5.AgreetoabidewithInformationSystemsStandardsasadoptedbyISACA,whichcanbeviewedat’sand/orcertificationholder’sconductand,ultimately,indisciplinarymeasures.TheISACACodeofProfessionalEthicscanbeviewedonlineat(Forapplicationssubmittedafter1June2012.)3.ApplicationPageA-2SECTIONA–INFORMATIONSYSTEMSAUDIT,CONTROL,ASSURANCEORSECURITYEXPERIENCE—Foreachemployer(startingwiththemostcurrent),enterthe:sNameofEmployer.Enteryouremployername.sDatesofEmployment.Daterange(monthandyear)ofemploymentinISauditing,control,assuranceorsecuritysDurationofExperience.Enternumberofyearsandmonths,byemployerandintotal,performingISauditing,control,assuranceorsecurityservice.
