TheImportanceofStudyingInterculturalCommunicationRecently,wehavealreadystudiedtheinterculturalcommunication.Speaktotheimportanceofstudyinginterculturalcommunication,wemayfirsttalkaboutwhatisinterculturalcommunication.Theoreticallyspeaking,interculturalcommunicationisabroadconceptwhichhasbroadapplication:itmayrefertocommunicationbetweendifferentraces,nationsorcountriesandbetweendifferentpoliticalandeconomicsystems;itmayrefertocommunicationbetweendifferentgenders,agegroups,occupations,socialclassesoreducationallevels;itmayalsorefertocommunicationbetweendifferentregionsofonecountry.Inthemeantime,theinterculturalcommunicationhavethreeforms:interracialcommunication,interethniccommunicationandintraculturalcommunication.Theworldwideinterestininterculturalcommunicationgrowsoutoftremendouschangesintechnology,economy,immigrationpatternandtheemergenceofmulticulturalism.Theadvancednewtechnologyandtheincreaseofculturalmigration,alsotheeconomicglobalizationandthegrowthofthewordpopulationarethemainreasonsforincreasinginterculturalcommunication.Withtheglobalizationoftheworldeconomyandwideuseoftheinternetwhichistearingdownnationalboundaries,interculturalcommunicationhasbecomepartofourdailylife.Asaresult,understandothercultureisindispensibleandneedforinterculturalknowledgeandskillsthatleadtointerculturalcommunicationcompetencebecomeessentialinoursociety.Theimportanceofstudyinginterculturalcommunicationcannotbeoverstated.Firstofall,wecanincreaseourculturalawarenessbystudyinginterculturalcommunication.Becausesuchawarenessisthefirststeptointerculturalcommunicationcompetence.Simply,interculturalawarenesscanbeviewedasacognitiveprocessofunderstandingother’svalues,attitudes,beliefsandoutlooks.Second,Itcanreducecommunicationbarriersandfacilitateadaptiontoglobalanddomesticworkplacediversitybystudyinginterculturalcommunication.Differentcultureshavedifferentcommunicationstyles,soitisnotenoughtohaveagoodcommunicationonlyknowingthegrammarandvocabularyofalanguage.Therefore,whencommunicatingwithothersfromothercultures,wemustneedanunderstandingofeachother’scultureaswellasalanguageincommon.Understandingtheseculturalbackgroundsanddifferencesisveryessentialifwearehaveeffectiveinterculturalcommunicationbetweencolleaguesfromdifferentculturalbackgrounds,andifwewanttoensurethatateamisaworkingharmoniously.Third,wecanhelptoreducethecommunicativeconflictsbystudyinginterculturalcommunication.Conflictisinevitableinallsocialandpersonalrelationships.Itcanconnotesastateoflackofagreementorcollisionbetweentwoforcesorsystems.Thisstatecanbeexpressedeitheropenlyorsubtly.Weneedtolearntobetolerantofexternaldifferencessothatwedonotletthesedifferencesimpedecommunication.Harmoniousrelationshipsarenecessaryinallaspectsofhumaneffortifpeoplearetogetalongwithanotherandaccomplishtherequirementoflifeandsociety.Inaddition,interculturalcommunicationcanalsowideningpeople’svisionandimprovinginterculturalcompetence.Fromother’sculture,wecangetsomethingwedon’thaveinourownculture.Finally,interculturalcommunicationisanimportantmeanofexpressingyourselfbecauseitexistsdifferentwaysofexpressionandsodifferentkindofcommunicationdependingonthecultureyoubelongto.Thewayofcommunicatingwillnotbethesameasothercountriesanditisimportanttoknowsomevaluesofotherculturesandsoofotherwaysofcommunicatingfor,firstofall,avoidingsomemisunderstandingsandthenknowingbettersomeaspectsofdifferentcultures.Thatiswhyinterculturalcommunicationisanessentialexercisetodo;apersonwhocomefromacertaincountrydoesnotnecessarilygetthesameideasabouttime,death,identity,asanotheronefromadifferentcountrybecauseeachpersonhasitsownidentity.First,anationalidentity,definedbyasurname,afirstname,citizenship,andapersonalidentityperceivedaswhatareyouractivities,youropinionsaboutissuesoryourexperienceinlife.Sometimes,yourownidentitycanbemodifiedorinfluencedbydifferentfactors,forexamplereligion,yourenvironment,yourfamily.Thelatterexampleseemstobeaparadoxbecauseyoucangetyourownopinionsaboutsomethingbutyoucanbeinfluencedbyyourfamilialsurroundingorthesocietywhereyouliveespeciallysomenotionsthatparentsandevensocietyteachyouwhenyouareachild,aspatriotismornationalism.Thisinfluencecanreplaceyourpreviousvisionoflifeandchangingyourwayofexpressingyourselfandsoyourwayofcommunicatingbutyoucanalsoadaptthisinfluencetoyourownwayofthinkinganditcanberesultedinadifferentwayofcommunicating.Inspiteofacertaininfluencecomingfromaclosesurrounding,everyonecandevelopitsownidentitythroughitsopinionsandexperienceandthisisinterestingtonoticethatevenwithinaclosegroupofpeople,eachpersongetdifferentinterculturalcommunicationtendstobeculturaldifferencesbetweendifferentfactors.Tocarryouteffectivecross-culturalcommunication,shouldbetakentotheappropriatechannelsofcommunication,culturaldifferencestoovercomethenegativefactors,toenhanceunderstandingandcooperation.Inthispaper,interculturalchangeofthebasictheoryofbusinessandinterculturalnegotiationsandbusinessetiquettemadeadetailedanalysisofthesetwoareasandstudyhowtheycouldbettercarryoutinterculturalcommunication,improvethee
