AResearchonLandscapeDesignofBoundarySpaceofUrbanForestPark–TaketheOlympicForestParkforExampleXinyueYang1,YonggangAn1,*,XiaoyanMa11ChinaBeijingUniversityofAgriculture，China2*YonggangAnKeywords:forestpark;boundaryspace;landscapedesignAbstract:Fromtheperspectiveoflandscapedesignelementsandusablefunctionsofboundaryspaceofurbanforestpark,thispaperhascarriedoutresearchandanalysisonBeijingOlympicForestPark.Ithasfirstlyanalyzedvegetationandsculpturesinboundary-spacelandscapedesignofurbanforestpark,thenanalyzedaswellassummarizedthedesignmethodandprinciplesforboundary-spacelandscapeofurbanforestpark,andlastlygeneralizedthemethodsfordesigningboundary-spacelandscapeofurbanforestpark.IntroductionWiththerapidsocialandeconomicdevelopmentinChina,people’slivingstandardiscontinuouslyimproving.Aspeople’slifestyleandattitudetowardslifechange,theirrequirementsforlivingenvironmentalsokeepenhancing.Inrecentyears,thecityisconstantlystrengtheningtheimprovementofurbanenvironment.Urbanforestparkisofgreatsignificanceforurbanenvironment.Asanimportantconstituentofurbanopenspace,boundaryspaceofurbanforestparkhasplayedanimportantroleinimprovingurbanecologicalfunction.Reasonableboundary-spacelandscapedesignwillaffecttheperformanceoffunctionofgreenfieldinpark,overallbalance,stabilityandusageofgreenfieldinthepark.Nowadays,onthebasisofresearchesonboundary-spacelandscapeofurbanforestpark,thispaperhasexplicitlysummarizedthedesignmethodandusablefunctionofboundary-spacelandscapeofurbanforestpark,andanalyzedlandscapeelements,spatialformandplants’cultivationcharacteristicsintheareathroughinvestigationandstudiesontheboundaryspaceofBeijingOlympicForestPark.2.TheConcept,CharacteristicsandFunctionsofLandscapeDesignforBoundarySpaceofUrbanForestPark2.1TheConceptofBoundarySpaceofUrbanForestParkAlexanderChristopheronceremarked:“Iftheboundarynolongerexists,spacewillloseitsvitality.”[1]Forurbanforestpark,boundaryspacehasplayedanimportantrolefortheentireparkandsurroundingurbangreenfields.Theboundaryspaceofurbanforestparkreferstodifferentspacesdirectlyconnectedwithforestpark.Boundaryspaceintheparkreferstothetransitionalspacewithcertainwidth,whichisdirectlyinfluencedbyedgeeffect.Suchspaceisexactlyatransitionalspacebetweencityandsurroundingconstructionlands.2.2CharacteristicsofBoundarySpaceofUrbanForestParkBoundaryspaceofurbanforestparkhasundertakenmultiplerolesinthewholepark.However,intermsofitscharacteristics,ithasitsownspatialfeatures,suchas:continuity,marginality,vagueness,etc.Boundaryspaceofurbanforestparkhasvariousfunctionsandcharacteristics.Throughconsultingtheliterature,booksandfieldresearch,thispaperhassummarizedcharacteristicsofboundaryspaceofurbanforestparkintofouraspects:2.2.1ContinuityandTransitivityContinuityofboundaryspacereferstothecontinuityofspatialinterface.Inadditiontobringaboutvisualsenseofspace,itcanalsoformflowandinterludeofspaceandthusintegratethespace.Theboundaryspaceofparkisnotonlytheboundarybetweenparkandothersurroundingconstructionland,butalsoalinktosurroundingenvironment.2.2.2MarginalityTheboundaryofspaceidentifiesthelimitandscopeofacertainspatialfield.Relativetoadjacentspace,itcanbethebasisforpeopletodistinguishdifferentspaces.Theboundaryspaceisusuallythemarginbetweentwoormorethantwodifferentbutinterconnectingspaces,andthespeciallocationhasgivenboundaryspacethecharacteristicofmarginality.2.2.3VaguenessTheboundaryspaceofurbanforestparkissituatedbetweentheparkandotherurbanconstructionlands,whichresultsfromtheinteractionbetweenthem.Itnotonlybelongstothecategoryofurbanforestpark,butalsointerconnectswithsurroundingurbanlands.Twoadjacentspacespenetrateandfusewitheachotherhere.Thetransitionalspatialcharacteristichasbroughtaboutvaguenessinproperty,functionandownershiptoboundaryspaceoftheforestpark,asisshowninTable2.Figure2Internal-or-ExternalVaguenessofInterior,ExteriorandBoundarySpacesofUrbanForestPark2.3FunctionsofBoundarySpaceofUrbanForestPark2.3.1IsolationandProtectionFunctionByphysicaldivisionandrestrictionbetweenboundaryspaceandsurroundingheterogeneousspace,urbanforestparkcanseparateinterioractivitiesaimingatvisiting,restingandrecreationfromexterioractivitieslikeaccessingandshopping,andcanthusavoidexteriorenvironment’sinterferenceinparkactivitiestoacertainextent.Besides,theboundaryspacehasalsoplayedaprotectiveroleinfreeingthefragileecologicalenvironmentofcorespacefrombeinginterferedbyadversefactors.2.3.2EcologicalProtectionFunctionUrbanforestparkreferstoanopenparkwithacertainareaofnaturalsceneryandhighforestcoverageincityorinthesuburb,satisfyingtheneedsofthegeneralpublictoreturntonatureandgoforaholidayouting.However,thewildecologicalenvironmentofforestparkisrelativelyfragile.Creationofplantcommunityenclosureandlandscapeontheborderofurbanforestparkhascertainenclosingeffectsoninternalspaceofthepark,preventingdamagesfromsurroundingenvironmentonecologicalenvironmentofthepark.2.3.3DisplayingFunctionTheboundaryspaceistheskinandcoatofurbanforestpark,whichdirectlycontactswiththesurroundingenvironmentandservesasthefirstimpressionoftheparkforus
