LndscapePlanningandDesignofUrbanWaterfrontGreenSpacesAbstractDefinitionofurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesisgiven,itsdesignprinciplesaresummarizedas:human-centered,ecology-first,integratednatureandhumanity,highlightingregionalcharacteristics,unifiedplanningandoverallcoordination.Designofecologicalplantcommunity,designoftrafficnetworkandrevetmentmanagementisanalyzedtoexploredesigncontentsandtechniquesofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.Intermsofthedesignofecologicalplantcommunity,theselectionoflandscapeplantsandlandscapingofwaterfrontgreenspacesareanalyzed;trafficnetworkisfurtherclassifiedintowatertraffic,waterfrontpathway,anddrivewaysystem;waterfrontrevetmentmanagementisspecificallydiscussedfromtheoriginalnaturalrevetment,naturalrevetmentreinforcedbynaturaldesigns,andnaturalrevetmentreinforcedbyartificialdesigns.Problemsinthemodernurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesareproposed,suchascontradictionsbetweendiversifiedfunctionsandsimpledesigns,lackofregionalchar-acteristics,viewersarekeptawayfromwater;countermeasuresarealsogiveninthehopeofpushingurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesinahealthydevelopmentroad,soastoimprovetheoveralllandscapequalityofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.KeywordsWaterfrontlandscapes,Waterfront,Greenspaces,LandscapeplanningAsagreatsourceoflife,waterisanindispensableconditionforthesurvivalofhumanbeings.Peoplecannotlivewithoutwater,somanycitiesarebuiltbymountainsandwatertosatisfyitscitizens'loveforwater,andwaterfrontareasofthesecitiesalwayshavethemostbeautifulanddistinctivelandscapes.Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesareessentialcomponentsofurbanwaterfrontareas,playingtheroleofbeautifyingwaterfrontareasandsatisfyingneedsofwater-lovingcitizens.Suchgreenspacesalwayshavezonalwatersasthecenter,andvaluelandscapeeffectsandgreeningfeaturesofbanks,theyareimportantresourcesfortheconstructionofurbanwaterfrontareas,becausetheycanprovideexcellentlandscapesforurbanlandscaping,workasidealeco-corridorsandalsohigh-gradegreenlinesofcities.AlongwiththedevelopmentofChinesecities,urbanwaterfrontgreenspaceshavedrawnmoreandmoreattentionfromthepublic,andhowtoproperlydesignurbanwaterfrontgreenspaceshasbecomeanurgenttaskofurbanconstruction.Thisstudy,byintroducingdefinition,designprinciples,contentsandtechniquesofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces,summarizesproblemsinthelandscapeplanningofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces,andproposessomecountermeasurestofacilitatethefutureconstructionofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.1DefinitionofurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesUrbanwaterfrontgreenspacesareeco-greencorridorswithbothecologicalandbeautificationeffects,containingwaterandland,richlandscapesandeco-information.Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesaremostlydistributedalongrivers,lakesandseaasgreensceniclinesofcities.Thefollowing3concontentsareincluded:A.Asapartofurbanpublicgreenspaces,itisgiventhepropertiesandcharacteristicsofurbanpublicgreenspaces;B.Asapartofurbanwaterfrontareas,itisajointwaterareaofurbanland(mainlygreenspaces)andwater(lake,riverandetc.);C.Asapartofurbanpublicspaces,itisinfluencedbymanyfactorsofcities,andhastocarryoutitsurbanfunctions,reflectproblemsofcities,showimagesofcitiesandholdupactivitiesofcitizens.2Landscapedesignprinciplesofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces2.1Human-centered,ecology-firstOneofthemostimportantfunctionsofwaterfrontgreenspacesistoprovideciti-zensafavorablewaterfrontplatformforenhancingcommuni-cationsamongpeople,soitsdesignshouldputusers'needsfirst.Ifthereareresidentialareasintheneighborhood,facili-tiesforchildrenandseniorsshouldbeinstalled;iftherearein-dustrialareasnearby,placesforthegatheringofpeoplewillnotbenecessary.Meanwhile,urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesplayalsotheroleofbeautifyingtheenvironment,reducingnoi-ses,andcreatingfavorableurbanecologicalspaces.AsChi-nesecitiesgrowbetterandbetter,ecologyhasattractedmoreandmoreattentionfromthepublic.Becauseurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesarelocatedonthefringesoflandandwater,theyarecharacterizedbybiodiversity,landscapeecologyprin-ciplesshouldbefollowedinitsdesign,withplantlandscapingastheprincipalpart,tocreatenaturalwaterfrontlandscapes.Meanwhile,humaninterventionsordamagesshouldbere-ducedtotheleasttomaintainecologicalbalance,highlightharmoniouscoexistenceofhumanandnature,thenthede-signedwaterfrontlandscapeswillbeabletoprotectenviron-ment,andalsosatisfyusers'demandsinlandscapeandFunction.2.2Integratednatureandhumanity,highlightingregionalcharacteristicsTheunificationofnatureandhumanityfocusesontheintegrationofnaturalenvironmentandhumanisticenvironmentinthedesignofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesseemplacesforentertainmentandrest,butfeaturesofthecity'shistoryandcultureshouldbefullyexploredforthedesign,thenexpressedbylandscapedesigntechniquestoshowtheprofoundhistoryandcultureofthecity,highlightitslandscapecharacteristics,andmaintainthecontinuityofitshistorycontext.TakingLiaochengCityforanexample,GuangyueMansionbuiltintheMingDynasty(1368-1644)islocatedinitsdowntownareas,Beijing-HangzhouCanalwhichisoneofthetwoengineeringwondersofancientChinapassesthecity,andtherearealsomanyfamousscenicareaslikeDongchangLake,HaiyuanPavilio
