-1-外文文献：TheImportanceAspectsofLandscapeDesignonHousingDevelopmentinUrbanAreasAbstractIthasbeenproventhatproperlandscapeplanninganddesignswiththesustainabilityconceptandapproachhelptocreateaconduciveandresponsiveenvironmentofhousingdevelopment.Thispaperpresentsabriefofconceptualviewontheimportantaspectsoflandscapedesignonhousingdevelopmentinurbanareas.Thereviewisbasedonthetheoreticalframeworkoftherelationshipbetweenlandscapedesigninplanninganddesigningthehousingdevelopmentinurbanareasaswellashowitactsasanaddedvaluetothesustainableresidentiallandscapedesign.Areviewonpreviousresearchesandjournalsaredoinginprovidingatheoryontheimportanceaspectoflandscapedesigninhousingareas.Itishopedthatthispapermaypossiblyprovidesignificantinformationonlandscapedesigntowardsinfluencingthepricesandvaluesofthehouse.Thispaperalsocanbecomeanindicatortowardsenhancingthesustainabilityoflivingenvironment.Keywords:Landscapeplanninganddesign,conduciveandresponsive,housingdevelopment,sustainability1.IntroductionAgoodqualityofhousingareacanbehighlightedasanimportantissueincreatingasustainablelivingenvironment.AccordingtoKualaLumpurStructurePlan2020,thecitymustbefunctional,liveandimpartasenseofcommunityandbelonging.Inaddition,itmustalsoprovideaclean,healthy,safeandcaringenvironmentthatcaterstotheneedsofall.Innovativedesigns,provisionofthelatestconveniencesandfacilities,varietyofchoice,qualityoffinishandattractivenessofthelayout,shallbecomeapriorityconcernespeciallyinlandscapedesign.Therefore,theconcernabouttheimportancelandscapedesigninsupportingaqualityoflifeisneededespeciallyinthecontextofhousingdevelopment.Meanwhile,thelittleattentionhasbeengiventolandscapedesigninprospectofbuyers.Thus,basedontheissueshighlighted,theeffectivenessoflandscapedesignwhichcanhelpinincreasing-2-housepricesandvaluesneedtobestudiedinordertoattainthesustainablehousingdevelopment.Thisconceptual-reviewpaperwillfocusontheimportanceoflandscapedesignininfluencinghousingdevelopment.Thereviewwilldevelopatheoreticalunderstandingoflandscapeinhousingareaswithacompatibleusedbyitselementsandcharactersthatcangivepositiveimpacttowardpricesandvaluesofthehouse.Sincelandscapedesignbecomesanewbrandingforhousingdevelopmentnowadays,thisreviewwilldeliveraconceptualunderstandinginpromotinglandscapedesigninsustaininglivingenvironmentinthecountry.ItisalsoimportantinordertoachievetheNationalLandscapePolicyactionplanswhicharetorequireatleast30%ofurbandevelopmentareasasgreenareasaswellastoreachthevisionofNationalLandscapePolicytotransformMalaysiaintoTheBeautifulGardenNationbyYear2020LandscapeDesignforHousingAreas.2.LandscapeDesignforHousingAreasLandscapeisanessentialpartoftheenvironment.Landscape,whichincludestopography,vegetationandassociatedplantsandsoil,waterbodies,andtheirspatialconfiguration,isoneofthemostvisualneedsofpeople.Theyaddthathuman-natureinteractionsleadhumanbeingstohavecontrastingpreferenceonthesurroundinglandscapeandenvironmentbecauseapleasinglandscapecanbringmentalandphysicalbenefitstopeople.Theunderstandingandpreferencebypeopleontheirsurroundinglandscapeprovideachallengeforpolicy-makingandimplementationinhousingproperty.AccordingtoWilliamsandTilt,landscapedesignistheartofdevelopingpropertyforitsgreatestuseandenjoyment.Thus,aneffectivelandscapedesigncanbecomeintegralpartofagoodcommunityenvironment.ThisviewisalsosupportedbyVanDerZandenandRodiewhostatethatlandscapedesignblendsartswithenvironmental,physicalandbiologicalofsciencewhichmainlyfocusonoutdoorspace.Theyalsofurtherexplainthatwell-definedlandscapespacecanenhancethequalityoflivingareaswhichmeetpeople’spreferences.Besidesthat,accordingtoVanDerZandenandRodie,landscapedesignisnotonlylimitedtoplantmaterialonly.Italso-3-focusesonthehardscapethatcomplementtheplantsinordertocreateasuccessfuldesign.Awell-definedlandscapespacecancreateaqualityofanenvironmentandprovideaconducivelivingspaceinresidential.Thislandscapedesignmightbeabletobecomeafactorinfluencingthepriceandvalueoftheproperty.Inrelatingtolandscapedesignandhousingproperties,Smithetal.,suggeststhathousingisanactivitythatisdeeplyconnectedtoasustainableenvironment.Theconnectionsareasfollows:Housingisabasichumanneedanditsquality;priceandavailabilityarecruciallyimportanttoaqualityoflife.Thelocation,planning,layoutandlandscapedesignofthehousemakeanimportantcontributiontothecommunityspirit.Thesitingofthehousesandthematerialsfromwhichtheyaremade,andtheusestheiroccupantsmakeofsuchresourcesasenergyandwater,allhavemajorenvironmentalimplications.Thus,housingcanbeseenasthecentralelementwhichcanlinktogethereconomicdevelopment,theenvironmentandsocialwelfareinachievingasustainableenvironmentandsociety(Fig.1).AccordingtoGauseetal.,,landscapedesigncanbeusedasatooltomakeacommunitymoresustainableandcontributetoabalancedenvironment.Naturalandconstructedlandscapedesigncanmodifytheresidentialcommunitytobecomeabetterlivingenvironmentandalsoincreasethevalueofthehouseproperty.Fig.1.Theimportanceofhousinginasustainablesociety(Source:Smithetal.,[6],p.5)3.TheImportanceofLandscapeDesigninHousing
