TheaimofeducationNowadays,peoplepaygreatattentiontoeducationthaneverbefore.Therearemainlytworeasons.First,itprovidesaneasierwaytogetajobandahighersalaryhencetheyneedn’ttoworryabouttheirlivelihoodcomparetothoseuneducatedworkerswhodothesehardworksinfactories.Secondly,tomeetthedemandofthedevelopmentofsociety,weneedmoreandmorepersonswithabilitytomakecontributionforit.Theymustbetaughtprofessionalskillsandabundantknowledgeastheirsupport.Thusitseemslikemillionsofaccuratetoolssupporttherunningofaneverendingengine.Inmyopinion,maybe“trained”candescribesthisphenomenonmoreproperlycompareto“educated”.Becauseitisnottheultimateaimofeducationwhichshouldbefocusonfarbeyondthat.Firstly,educationsshouldhelpstudentsdeveloptheirownviewsoflife,equipthemwithmoralityandformahealthyattitudetowardslife.Itisoftenthecasethatweseealotofstudentsdosomethingextremelyharmfultooursociety.Sowhat’swrongwithoureducation?Wereallyneedtomakeaself-examinationaboutit.Forexample,lastyearwhenpolicemenfinallycaughtthecriminalwhosnatchedthousandsofpeople’pinnumberandstolenabout2millionRMBfromarangeofbankaccountbyhackerattack,theyfoundhewasonlyacollegestudent.Heusedhisnetworkskillslearnedatschooltomakefinancialcrime.Idoubletsucheducationwouldbegoodtostudentsandsociety.Apartfromthis,ahottopicrecentlyarousepeople’attention.AformerFudanuniversitystudentLinSenhaowaschargedwithintentionalhomicidesforthekillingofhisroommate,whichalmostsurprisedthewholesociety.ThisisbecauseLinwasnoteducatedproperlyintheemotionalmanagementthusformaunhealthyviewaboutlife.Oureducationshouldn’tpayspecialattentiontothegradesbutalsoshouldfeaturethemwithall-arounddevelopment.Thereforeoureducationcanbebetter.Secondly,oureducationshouldteachstudentstoknowwellaboutthemselvesandlearnbythemselves.Assocratessaid:“knowyourself.”Forexample,asthefamousAmericanwriterThoreauwroteinhisbookWalden,orLifeintheWoods:“IwenttothewoodsbecauseIwishedtolivedeliberately,tofrontonlytheessentialfactsoflife,andseeifIcouldnotlearnwhatithadtoteach,andnot,whenIcametodie,discoverthatIhadnotlived.Ididnotwishtolivewhatwasnotlife,livingissodear.”theultimateaimofeducationshouldteachstudentstoexplorethetruemeaningoflife.AndIbelievethatThoreaufinallyfoundtheheaveninhisheart.Oureducationshouldn’tbelikeamachinethatproducesomanytoolsthatpaytoomuchattentiononmateriallife,buttolookfurtherandcreateindividualsthathavetheirownthoughtandwisdom.
