Gulliver'sTravels格列佛游记简介  格列佛于1699年开始第一次旅行,在海上遇到风暴,到了一个叫做利力浦特的国家,那儿的人只有15厘米高。他后来逃走了,回到家乡。可是不久又进行下一次旅行,先是到布罗卜丁奈格,然后是勒皮他和拉格奈格,最后到了更为奇怪的慧骃国……  作为一个年轻人,格列佛为人类、为他的祖国——英国而自豪。他在这些奇特的国家旅行,与巨人、魔术师和马交谈,开始时他还为他们的异常主张和奇怪看法感到好笑。但是随着时光流逝,他开始困惑,扪心自问:“为什么我们人类要进行战争、撒谎、诈骗、互相残杀?难道没有更好的方式生活?”  约翰·斯威夫特1667年出生于爱尔兰都柏林,1745年去世。他的许多书都对当时政治生活进行了猛烈抨击,不过他自己深受人们喜爱。他把三分之一的钱财用来帮助穷人。《格列佛游记》是他最有名的作品。  1AvoyagetoLilliput  1AvoyagetoLilliput  IwasborninNottinghamshireandwasthethirdoffivesons.Myfatherwasnotarichman,buthewasabletosendmetoCambridgeUniversity,whereIstudiedforthreeyears.WhenIleftcollege,Icontinuedmystudiesandbecameadoctor.ButIalwayswantedtotravel,andsoImadeseveralvoyagesasaship'sdoctor.WhenImarriedmywifeMary,however,Iplannedtostayathomeforawhile.ButafterafewyearsIdiscoveredIwasnotearningenoughmoneyfrommypatients.Idecidedtogotoseaagain,andthistimeIjoinedashipsailingtotheislandsintheSouthPacificOcean.WestartedourjourneyfromBristolonMay4th,1699.  Atfirstourvoyagewentwell.WesailedacrosstheAtlantic,roundthecoastofAfricaandintotheIndianOcean.ButbeforewecouldreachthePacific,aviolentstormhitusanddroveustothenorth-westofTasmania.Thewinddroveourshipontoarock,whichbroketheshipinhalf.SomeofthesailorsandImanagedtogetaboatintothewater,andwerowedawaytolookforland.Butwhenweweretootiredtorowanymore,agreatwavehitoursmallboat,andweallfellintothesea.Idonotknowwhathappenedtomycompanions,butIsupposetheywerealldrowned. Aftersometime,anotherofficialclimbeduptotheplatformandspoketome.FromhissignsIunderstoodthattheyweregoingtomoveme.TheKingofthiscountry(whichwascalledLilliput)hadorderedhispeopletocarrymetothecapitalcity,aboutakilometreaway.ImadesignstoaskwhetherIcouldbeuntied,buttheofficialpolitelyrefused.  WhileIwaseating,aplatformhadbeenpreparedtocarryme.ThepeopleofLilliput,knownastheLilliputians,areveryintelligentandcleverwiththeirhands.Forme,fivehun-dredmenbuiltaspecialwoodenplatformwithtwenty-twowheels.Ninehundredofthestrongestmenworkedforaboutthreehourstoliftmeontotheplatform,andonethousandfivehundredoftheKing'slargesthorses(eachelevenandahalfcentimetreshigh)pulledmetothecapital.Ididnotknowaboutanyofthis,becausetheyhadputasleepingpowderinmywine,andIwasinadeepsleep.
