ExpectationsofMyself:Study,CareerandFutureThere’sasaying,Prepareforarainyday,whichmeanstogetthingsreadybeforehand.Threeyearsago,afterworkingforsixteenyears,IquitmyjobandreturnedtouniversityandgotamasterdegreeasIexpectedthisyear.NowIamPH.DcandidatesinDonghuaUniversity.MaybeitwillbealongwaytogetthedoctordegreeandImaynotgraduatepunctually.ButIhaveafive-yearblueprintofmyfuturewhichincludesmyexpectationsaboutmystudy,careerandfuture.StudyisnowthechiefcommissionImustfirstaccomplish,Iwanttomeetthedemandsofthediplomaandgraduateinthreeyearsasit’sdesigned.Toobtain16creditsincompulsoryandoptionalcoursesandhavetwopaperspublishedwiththetotalimpactfactorover6inmagazineslistedinScienceCitationIndexisreallyatoughtaskforawomanlikeme.However,three-yearstudyformasterdegreetoldmethatitisnevertoolatetolearnifyouputyourheartinitandyoucansucceedaswell.SonowIamdoingmybesttostudyinandoutclassinordertopasstheexamsandgainenoughcredits.Experimentsarenecessariesbecauseitistheonlywaytoacquiredatawhichisthekeyfoundationtowriteapaper.AlthoughIfeelabitexhaustedsometimes,Iwillstickon.FuturecareerisveryclearnowforIknowwhatIwantandwhatIamcompetentin.Therearetwochoices:tobeateacherinacollegeortobeatechnicianinacompany.Thesecondoneismypreference.Iliketobewithyouthastheirfriendandaguide-mantogivethemsomevaluableadvice.Asapersonwholikestouseheadtosolveproblems,Iamgoodatdiscoveruncoveredthings.Sotobeatechnicianinthefieldofbiologywillbeanicechoice.ButwhatIwillbeisdependentonwhatIcanachieveinthreeyears.Iamapersonwithdeeploveforlife,somyfuturelifewillbecolorful.Afterlandingajobinmyidealfield,Iwillhavemoresparetimethannow.Goingtravellingwillbepartofmyrestlife,andIwillgodifferentplacestoexperiencethebeautyofnatureandthemarvelsofhumancivilization.SharingmoretimewithmyfamilymembersandtakingmoreofthemwillbeaconsoleformebecauseIregretthatmy6-yearhardstudyfordiplomascosttoomuchtimewhichleadstodecreasedfamilyreunions.Mystudy,careerandfutureexpectationsareordinaryasIliketoliveasimpleandmeaningfullife.Whatwillfuturebelike?Perhapsitwon’tbeasIdesirenow.Whateveritwillbe,Iwillbehappy,healthyandoptimistic.Iamlookingforwardtothegraduationinthreeyears.
