ReportofTheAdventuresofHuckleberryFinn2012级英语5班李凤学号:20124031037IhavereadMarkTwain’sTheAdventuresofHuckleberryFinnthistime.AtfirstIdon’tlikeitatall.BecausethebookwhichIreadistranslatedbyChinese.AndIreallythinkitisboring.AsaChineseIhavereadtoomuchnovelswhichtellsabetterstorythanit.SoIthinkitisasufferingtoreadsuchastupidnovels.ButIdon’thaveanyotherchoice,Imustreaditforwittingthisreport.HoweverthinghavechangedwhenIreadtheoriginal.IfoundthatMarkTwain’sTheAdventuresofHuckleberryFinnisinterestinganditreflectethnicprejudiceinthatage’sAmerica.Ionlyreadchapter31andchapter32duetolackingoftime.AndIplantoreadwholenovelonsummerholiday.Followingisthesummaryofthosetwochapters.Thechapter31ismainaboutFinn’spsychologicalactivity.Andinthischapter,JimisnotaroundFinnandheissoldbytwofrauds.AtfirstheisworryaboutJim.Hegoestotheraft,andsitsdowninthewigwamtothink.Buthecan'tcometonothing.Hethinkstillhewearshisheadsore,buthecan'tseenowayoutofthetrouble.Afterallthislongjourney,andafterallthey'ddoneforthemscoundrels,hereitwasallcometonothing,everythingallbustedupandruined.BecausetwofraudscouldhavethehearttoserveJimsuchatrickasthat,andmakehimaslaveagainallhislife,forfortydirtydollars.AndthenFinnfeelsguiltyabouthimhelpingJim,thenigger,fleefromWidowDouglas’shouse.Heisstealingapooroldwoman'sniggerthathadn'teverdonehimnoharm.Andalongthisrunningwayhemustdropsinhistracks;heissoscared.Thenhedecidestowritealetterandseesifhecanprayforcomfort.Afterwritinghefeelsgoodandallwashedcleanofsinforthefirsttimehehadeverfeltsoinhislife,andFinnknowshecouldpraynow.HoweverFinndoesnotsendtheletterstraight,butlaysthepaperdownandsitstherethinking--thinkinghowgooditisallthishappenedso.AndFinngetstothinkingoverJimandhistripdowntheriver;andheseesJimbeforehimallthetime:inthedayandinthenight-time,sometimesmoonlight,sometimesstorms,andtheya-floatingalong,talkingandsingingandlaughing.He'dseeJimsteadsofcallinghim,sohecangoonsleeping;andseehowgladJimiswhenhecomesbackoutofthefog;andwhenhecomestoJimagainintheswamp,uptherewherethefeudwas;andsuch-liketimes;andwouldalwayscallhimhoney,andpethimanddoeverythingJimcanthinkofforhim,andhowgoodJimalwaysis;andatlastFinnstricksthetimehesavesJimbytellingthementheyhadsmall-poxaboard,andJimissograteful,andsaysheisthebestfriendoldJimeverhadintheworld,andtheonlyonehe'sgetnow;andthenFinnhappenstolookaroundandseethatpaper.Hetearsitupandsaystohimself“Allright,then,I'llgotohell”.Finndoesisavirtuousboy,comparingtheemptywhitepeople’sunfairtreatment,heistendtodofortruelove.AndfinallyhedecidestorescueJim.Andthechapter32isrefertothefirststepaboutFinn’ssave.HegoestothelittletownPikesvilleandmeetsTomSawyer’sauntSally.SheviewFinnashernephewTomSawyer.AndFinnpretendstobeTomSawyerandfindtochancetorescueJim.MostofthischapterisconversationsbyauntSallyandFinn.FromthosewecanfindthatFinnisacleverboy.Analysisofthosetwochapters.TheAdventuresofHuckleberryFinniscommonlyaccountedasoneofthefirstGreatAmericanNovels.ItistoldinthefirstpersonbytheeponymousHuckleberryHuckFinn.Thisbookisnotedforitsnaiveyoungprotagonist,itscolorfuldescriptionofpeopleandplacesalongtheMississippiRiver,anditssoberandoftenscathinglookatentrenchedattitudes,particularlyracism,ofthetime.ThedriftingjourneyofHuckleberryFinnandhisfriendJim,arunawayslave,downtheMississippiRiverontheirraftmaybeoneofthemostenduringimagesofescapeandfreedominallofAmericanliterature.Inchapter31and32,therealsoaresomewordstoembodycolorfuldescriptionofpeople.Suchas,whenTomSawyer’sauntSallymeetsFinnandviewhimashernephew,sheissohappyandshegrabsFinnandhugshimtight;andthengripsFinnbybothhandsandshakeandshake;andthetearscomeinhereyes,andrundownover;andshecan'tseemtohugandshakeenough,andkeepssaying.ThisisnotallthedescriptionofauntSally’saction.Sheplanstogiveasurprisetoherhusband,thenshegrabsFinnandhustleshiminbehindthebed,andsays:Herehecomes!Stickyourheaddownlower--there,that'lldo;youcan'tbeseennow.Don'tyouletonyou'rehere.I'llplayajokeonhim.Children,don'tyousayaword.AndwhenhishusbandcomesbacksheaskshimweatherhemeetsTomSawyerandpretendtobesadandworriedwhenshehearshishusbanddoesnotmeethernephew.Butwhatinterestingisfollowing.Herhusbandspringstothewindowattheheadofthebed,andthatgivesMrs.Phelpsthechanceshewants.ShestopesdownquickatthefootofthebedandgivesFinnapull,andoutFinncomes;andwhenherhusbandturnsbackfromthewindowthereshestands,a-beaminganda-smilinglikeahouseafire,andFinnstandingprettymeekandsweatyalongside.Theoldgentlemanstared,andaskswhoisthisboy.AuntSallysaysheisTomSawyer.AndauntSally’shusbandalsoactsfunny.TheoldmangrabsFinnbythehandandshakes,andkeepsonshaking;andallthetimehowthewomandoesdancearoundandlaughandcry.BothauntSallyandherhusbandacthilarious.Thismakesmecan’thelplaughingandthinkingitisreallyafunnynovel.MarkTwaindescribespeopleverygood.TheAdventuresofHuckleberryFinnmainlytellsthestoryalongtheMississippiRiver,readerscanpossibleseethescenebyreadingthisnovel.Andatthosetwochapterstherealsoaresomedescriptionaboutthescenery.WhenFinngetsPikesvilleitisallstillandSunday-like,andhotandsunshiny;thehandsisgotothefields;andtherearethe
