PositiveTransferofMotherTongueAccordingtothetheoryofeducationalpsychology,thepositiveandhelpfuleffectonlearningforeignlanguagewhichmadebecauseofthesimilarcomponentbetweenmothertongueandforeignlanguage,wecalleditpositivetransfer.Itcanpromotelearners'abilitytoperceiveanduseforeignlanguage.Thepositiveeffectofmothertongerfirstlyrepresentonthecognitivelevel,intheunderstandingprocess.Itisanimportantpartoflearninglanguageandalsothepreconditionofproducingandforminglanguage.Thebaseofunderstandingforeignlanguagecomesfromtheknowledge,intelligence,abilityandexperience.Thereflectofmothertongueinforeignlanguageteaching.First,speechpositivetransfer.TherearesomesimilarfeaturesbetweenpartofEnglishPhoneticAlphabetandChinesePinyin.Itiseasyforlearnerstomaster.Forexample,/p/、/b/、/t/、/d/、/k/、/g/and/f/canfindinChineseasp、b、t、d、k、g,andf.ThereforeinEnglishlearning,wecanmasterthecorrectpronunciationthroughcomparingthedifferenceorsimilarity.Second,lexicalpositivetransfer.Teachercantakeadvantageofmothertonguetohelpstudentsdeepentheunderstandingofvocabulary.Third,Grammarpositivetransfer.ItbecomeseasiertostudybasicEnglishsentencepatternifstudentssowellinlearningChinesesentencepattern.TherearebothfivebasicpatternsofEnglishandChinese,ifanalyzefromgrammarstructure.TherevelationwhichpositivetransferofmothertonguehasmadetothecollegeEnglisheducation.Inthefirstplace,takeadvantageoftheconceptofmothertonguetopromotetheunderstandingofEnglish.Peoplestoreagreatamountofinformationinbrain.So,Englishstudynotbeginfromzero,butfrommothertongue.Inthesecondplace,consolidatingEnglishthought.Duringteaching,teachersshouldcomparethetwolanguage.Asforthosespeciallanguagephenomenon,teachercanpromotestudents'directthoughtthroughinstances.Inthethirdplace,takingadvantageofmothertonguetobroadenknowledge.Thespeedofreadingwithmothertongueismuchfasterthanthanitwithforeignlanguage.Therefore,EnglishlearnerscanimprovetheirEnglishbyreadingnativebookstowidentheirknowledge.Fromallabove,wecancometoaconclusion.Learningtwolanguageisacomplexanddifficultprocess,learnershavetostudynotonlylanguagebutalsoacquirethecommonknowledgeandbackground.However,thereexistssomecommonfeaturesbetweenmothertongueandforeignlanguage.Iflearnersusingmothertonguetoknowsomethingaboutthem,itwillboosttheeffectofpositivetransfer.Allinall,leanersshouldnotregardmothertonguewithanegativeattitudeinEnglishlearning.
