&'*TheA-LinecontactorstogetherwithABB’sfuseandfuselessshortcircuitprotectionsandoverloadrelaysprovidethebasisforanewgenerationofapparatusdesignedtoanABB-Linesystemcommunality.Ourfocusduringdevelopmentwasnotjusttoimproveeachproductbutalsotoprovidedesigners,engineers,installersandenduserswiththebestpossiblesystemsolutions.Thebreakersandlargecontactorssharethesamewidthanddesignfeatures.Theyaredesignedtoworktogetherastheperfectmatchforsafemotorcontrolandprotection,savingmountingspace,installationtime,mountingmaterialandcabling.Thesystemsmeettype2co-ordinationrequirements(IEC947.2.1).Thecontactor,breakerandelectronicoverloadunitcanbeseenasasingleunit,withminimumspaceneededbetweentheapparatus.Easy-fitconnectionbarsareavailableforfasterandmorecompactconnectionsoftheunits.ThecontactorwiththenewvariantoftheABBIsomaxbreakerwithbuilt-inelectronicmotorprotection,isanevenmorecompactsolution.ThissystemsolutionwilltripthecontactoronoverloadandincludesthecommonIsomaxprotectionfeatures.Thereareseveraldifferentalternativesformountingtheunitstogether.Eitherin-lineorside-by-side,dependingonthespaceavailableinthepanel.Eitherwayyouwantit–whatyougetisacompactsystem.Thenewrangewasdevelopedtogetherwithcustomersworldwideandothercontactorusers–notbytechniciansalone.Somecustomerswereinvolvedduringthecompletedesignandsomeintheextensiveresearchpriortothedevelopment.•

TheA-Linecontactorrangehasthesamedesignfrom9Aupto750A(AC3duty)motorloads–andforabroadrangeofDCandotherACapplications.Thusmakingiteasiertomatchyourneedswithfewercomponents.Thenewlargecontactorsofferthesamepossibilitiesasthebreakersforrearconnectionofthepowerterminals.Thisgivesyoumoreflexibilityinmountingoptions.Rearconnectionalsoallowsamorecompactstarterwithterminalsprotectedfromthefront.Frontterminalconnectionisnaturallyalsopossible.Thewidthofthecontactors,smallerthanmostothercompetitivecontactors,meansfurtherbenefitsincompactinstallations.Shockresistantmaterials,togetherwithsmartdesign,ensurehighratingsevenat690Vandaninsulationvoltageofthecompleterangeupto1,000V.Thisalsoprovideshighlevelsofelectricalandmechanicaldurability.Rapidmountedaccessoriesthatareco-ordinatedacrosstheentirerangemakessystemdesignandinstallationeasier.Theaccessorieshavebeendesignedsothatthesametypeofaccessoryfitsawidevarietyofcontactors.TheAF-contactorvariantshaveinputsforcontrollingthecontactorwithlowvoltagesignals,i.e.fromaPLC,eliminatingtheneedofexternalPL
