Seriesofmodifiedclaywasobtainedbycalcinedtheclayaftermixinginmodifyingsolution(0.3mol/Lofaluminiumsulfate,2%ofNaOH)andemployedforremovingfluorinefromsyntheticsolution.Whenclaymixedinthemodifyingsolutionwithmassratioof1:3andcalcinedat400℃for2h,themodifiedexhibitedthebestdefluoridationefficiency.Treatingrawwaterbythismodifiedclaywithsolid-liquidratioof1.0∶37.5,theconcentra-tionofF-declinedfrom5.37mg/Lto0.865mg/Lafter3hofcontacting.Duringtheadsorptionprocess,tempera-turehadlittleimpactonfluorineadsorption,lowpHcouldenhancedthedefluoridationcapacityofmodifiedclay,Ca2+andMg2+advancedfluorineadsorptiontosomeextent,whiletheanionsinhibitedfluorineadsorptionmoreorless.Theusedmodifiedclaycouldberegeneratedbydigginginto0.3%aluminiumsulfatesolutionfor1hwithsolid-liquidratioof1.0∶2.5,thedefluoridationcapacityofmodifiedclaycouldreachbackto99.7%after3timeofregen-eration.Theperfectdefluoridationcapacityandregenerationabilityofmodifiedclayindicateditcouldbeusedforre-movingfluorinefromgroundwaterrepetitively.Keywords:
