NOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBEEPOXIDATIONAREASTARTUPFROMT&INOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBEEpoxidationAreaStartupFromT&IPurposeThepurposeofthisprocedureistopreparetheEpoxidationAreaStartupfromT&Itoreceivefeedfromupstreamequipmentfollowingmaintenance.Thesystemwillneedtoinitiallyacceptenoughfeedmaterialfromupstreamequipmenttoestablishaliquidfullsystemforstartup.Thematerialmustbeheatedtoreactionstartuptemperatures.Columnseventuallyneedtobeontotalrefluxconditiontostartupthesystem.TheactofplacingthesystemintotalrefluxistoapplytheproperamountofreboilersteamflowtocreateenoughvaporsintheoverheadsystemtomaintainasteadyandcontinuousrefluxflowratewhiletherefluxdrumlevelcontrollerisinAutomaticcontrol.ConditionsTheEpoxidationAreahasbeenrepairedandtheequipmentisreadytoreturntoservice.NOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBENOTE:AIROROXYGENCANFORMAPOTENTIALLYEXPLOSIVEMIXTUREWITHHYDROCARBONS,THEREFORE,NITROGENPURGEALLPROCESSLINESANDEQUIPMENTTOATMOSPHEREUNTILPROCESSLINESANDEQUIPMENTISLESSTHAN3%OXYGEN.DONOTNITROGENPURGETOTHEBLOWDOWNSYSTEMORTHEFLARESYSTEM.NOTE:TBAMAYFREEZEANDSOLIDIFYATTEMPERATURESBELOW25˚C.ASEQUIPMENTISSHUTDOWNORBLOCKED-INORWHENFLOWISSTOPPED,ENSURETBAISREMOVEDFROMLINESANDEQUIPMENTIFNOTHEATTRACED.THISCONDITIONCANCAUSEUNNECESSARYDOWNTIMEORDAMAGETOTHEEQUIPMENT.THEOVERHEADLINESARENOTHEATTRACED.EpoxidationAreaStartupFromT&INOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBEGUIDELINEAfteralltheutilitieshavebeenestablishedintheunit,suchassteam,nitrogen,andtheFlaresystemsarecompleteandon-line.PeroxidationReactorswillbeginfilling.Epoxidationmustbepreparedtostartup.•OpenthedrainvalvesontheIsothermalReactorstodrainanyresidualwaterleftoverfromthehydrotest.•OpenthebypassaroundtheS1steamoutletcheckvalvesfromtheEpoxidationTubularPFR01R0232-A/J.•LeavetheblowdownvalvesopenonbottomofeachEpoxidationTubularPFRtogradetobeginwarmingtheshellsideinpreparationforboilerfeedwateraddition.•Aftersteamhasdriedoutatblowdowns,reduceblowdowntoholdheatinreactorshells.ReverseflowS1steamthoughtheshellofthePFR'sforatleast4hours.EpoxidationAreaStartupFromT&INOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBE•EnsurethekickbackvalvesonthedischargeoftheHPFirstStagePropyleneFeedPump01P0216-A/B/CareclosedandmanuallyblockedinontheupstreamonsideofthecontrolvalvestopreventTBAbackingintothe01D0240drum.•Repeatsteamheatupprocessonthe1stand2ndStagePFRIntercoolers.•Lineupthe1stStagePreflashColumn01C0256toreceivefeedfromtheEpoxidationAdiabaticPFR-3Reactor01R0250withPC-23283inAutomaticwithasetpointof2.0MPag.•2ndStageEpoxidationbackpressurecontrolvalvePC-26283shouldbelinedupandinAutomaticwithasetpointof2.0MPag.•BlockinminimumflowbypassblockvalveonFO-25601AaroundPV-232831stStageEpoxidationbackpressurecontrolvalve.•BlockinminimumflowbypassblockvalveonFO-26201AaroundPV-262012ndStageEpoxidationbackpressurecontrolvalve.EpoxidationAreaStartupFromT&INOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBE•VerifyTBAFlushSystemisinserviceandoperational.•VerifytheEpoxidation1stand2ndStageReactionandSeparationSystemsandTBAPurificationSystemarereadytoacceptTBA.•EnsuretheHOAelectricswitchontheTBAFlushPump02P4621-Bisintheoffposition.•ClosegatevalveonthedownstreamsideofonHPTBAflushvalveto01E0210FV-23201A.•EnsuretheupstreamblockvalveonHPTBAflushvalveto01E0210FV-23201AisopenandFV-23201Acontrolvalveisclosedwithzerooutput.NOTE:N7NITROGENMUSTBEUSEDTOPROVIDEPRESSUREFORTHEOPERATIONOFTHE1STAND2NDSTAGEPREFLASHCOLUMNS.N7NITROGENWILLBEUSEDUNTILPROPYLENEISADDEDINTOSYSTEM.•CloseupstreamblockvalveonFV-25606onthe1stStagePreflashColumnrefluxline.EpoxidationAreaStartupFromT&INOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBE•ConnectN7nitrogenhosetotheupstreambleedervalveonFV-25606onthe1stStagePreflashColumnrefluxline.•LineupN7nitrogentoFV-25606andnotifyConsoleOperatorthatN7nitrogenisavailableto1stStagePreflashColumn.•CloseupstreamblockvalveonFV-26206onthe2ndStagePreflashColumnrefluxline.•ConnectN7nitrogenhosetotheupstreambleedervalveonFV-26206onthe2ndStagePreflashColumnrefluxline.•LineupN7nitrogentoFV-26206andnotifyConsoleOperatorthatN7nitrogenisavailableto2ndStagePreflashColumn.•SlightlyopendownstreamblockvalveonFV-23201AandslowlyopenFV-23201AcontrolvalvetostartalowflowofTBAFlushtoinventorytheEpoxidationReactorSystem.Targetflowrateof3,500kg/hronFT-23201AAforinitialfillingofsystemEpoxidationAreaStartupFromT&INOTE:ThisisforTrainingonly,andisnotintendedtobeusedasastepbystepprocedure.PO/MTBE•MonitorPI-25601AandPI-25601Bfeedlinepressureindicatorsonthe1stStagePreflashColumn.•Monitorlevelinthe01C02561stStagePreflashColumn,whenthe1stStageReactorsareliquidfullLC-25617levelinthe1stStagePreflashwillbegintoincrease.•OpenPSVbypasslinesathighpointsonthe1stStageEpoxidationReactorsystemtodisplaceremainingnitrogenandliquidfillreactorsystem.•MonitorPC-23283v
