Topic:Environmentalproblemsshouldbesolvedbythegovernmentinsteadofindividualsandprivatecompanies.Towhatextentdoyouagreeordisagree?Environmentalprotectionisnodoubtamajorissueconfrontingthemodernsocietywiththedevelopmentofnewtechnologiesandtheexplosionofworldpopulation.Whiletheissueiscertainlyrelevanttoeachindividualcitizenandallthecompanies,somepeoplecontendthatonlythegovernmentshouldbeconcernedaboutprotectingtheenvironment.Iconcedethatthegovernmentshouldleadtheeffortsinaddressingtheenvironmentalproblems.Nevertheless,cooperationandparticipationfromthecorporationsandindividualcitizensareessentialaswell.Thereisnodoubtthatthegovernmentistheagencythatshouldplaytheleadingrolesinsolvingtheenvironmentalproblems.Tobeginwith,withthepowertocollecttaxesfromindividualcitizensandprivatecompanies,thegovernmenthavethefinancialresourcesthatarenecessarytodealwithenvironmentalissues.Inaddition,thegovernmentmayformulatepoliciestoprovideincentivesforthecompaniesandindividualstoreducetheamountofpollutioncausedbytheiractivities.Finally,thegovernmentistheonlyinstitutionthatmayenactlawsrelatedtoenvironmentalproblems.Ontheotherhand,withoutthecooperationandparticipationofindividualcitizensandprivatecompanies,thegovernment'seffortstoprotecttheenvironmentwouldnotbeeffective.Forexample,thegovernmentmaylaunchacampaigntoeducatethepublicaboutthedesirabilityofdrivingcompactcarsforreducingtheairpollution.Thecampaignwouldmakelittledifferenceiftheindividualspaylittleattentiontotheinformationordonotcareabouttheenvironmentatall.Norwouldthegovernment'sgoalbeachievedifthecarmanufacturersdonotproducemorecompactcarsforthemarket.Inotherwords,thegovernmentalonecannotsolvetheproblemofenvironment.Ittakesthecollaborativeeffortsfromindividualandcorporatecitizenstoimprovethesituation.Inconclusion,Iagreethatthegovernmentshouldtaketheresponsibilitytoleadthesocietyinaddressingtheproblemsofenvironmentalpollutionasithasthepowerandresourcesnecessarytodoso.Nonetheless,individualcitizensandprivatecompanieshavetobeengagedifthegovernmentistoaccomplishanything.Topic:Shouldthemediareportcrimesindetails?Nowadaysthemediaoftencovernewsofcrimessuchasmurder,rapeandarmedrobberyingreatdetails.Whilesuchinformationmaywarnthepublicofthepotentialdangerandhelpreducecrimes,providingtoomuchinformationaboutcrimesmightleadtocertainnegativesideeffects.Inmyopinion,theinformationaboutcrimesshouldbemadeaccessibletothepublicbutthemediashouldrefrainfromreportingcrimesinanirresponsiblemanner.Tobeginwith,thereisnodoubtthatpeopleshouldhavetherighttoinformationaboutcrimescommittedinacommunity.Ifsomeoneintheneighbourhoodweremurdered,thechanceofotherpeoplebeingkilledwouldalsoincrease.Thepeopleshouldbenotifiedoftheeventaswellasanyactionstheauthoritieshadtakenimmediately.Anyattemptstoblockthenewsaboutthecrimeswouldviolatepeople'srighttoknowthetruth.Yet,thenecessityofinformingthepublicdoesnotmeanfulldetailshavetobedisclosed.Admittedly,thebestwaytoalertthepublicaboutarecentcrimebeingcommittedisthroughthereportingbythemedia.MostofusreadnewspaperandwatchTVnewseveryday.Butthereareanumberofreasonswhythemediashouldonlyreportthecrimesbrieflyandletanyinterestedpartiesfollowupwiththeeventsbythemselves.Tobeginwith,thedetailsofthecrimesmaycausediscomfortandevenpanicamongthemembersofthepublic.Thisisparticularlytruefortheyoungchildreninthesociety.Inaddition,thetimeonTVandthespaceonthenewspaperarescarceresourcesthatcanbeutilizedinmanydifferentways.Therefore,thedetailedreportingofthecrimeswouldincurhighopportunitycostsasthepublicattentionwouldhavebeendirectedtootherimportantissuessuchaseducationandenvironment.Finally,thefullinformationaboutcrimesmaybemadeavailablethroughthepoliceorothergovernmentagenciessothatanyoneinterestedintheeventsmayconsulttherecords.Sucharrangementwouldbelesscostlycomparedtoreportingthedetailsviathemedia.Inconclusion,sincecrimesarerelevanttoeachandeverymemberofthesociety,themediashouldreporttheeventsassoonaspossibletoalertthepublicandtohelppreventmorecrimes.Nevertheless,thereportsofcrimesshouldberelativelybriefinordertoavoidpublicpanicandtosavethepreciousTVtimeandnewspaperspace.Furthermore,anyonewhowantstoknowmoreaboutcertaineventsshouldbeallowedtoconsultthegovernmentagenciesforsuchTopic:Whenpeoplemovetoanewcountry,theyshouldacceptthelocalcultureastheirown.Doyouagreeordisagree?Itiscommonnowadaysforpeopletomovetoanewcountryasimmigrantstoseeknewopportunitiesforworkortogetmarried.Fornewimmigrants,oneofthemajorissuesistowhatextenttheyshouldacceptthelocalcultureastheirown.Whileitisimportantforthenewcomerstofollowthelocalrulesandconventioninordertoadapttothenewenvironmentandstarttheirnewlives,Ibelievethatitisbeneficialtoboththeimmigrantsandtheirhostcountriesifthenewmembersbringintheirowncultureandlifestyleforthesakeofculturaldiversity.Tobeginwith,newimmigrantswouldmakemoresmoothtransitiontotheirnewlifeiftheyunderstandhowthesocietyoftheirhostcountriesworksandbehaveaccordingly.Toconsiderasimpleexample,whenanAmericanmovestoEngland,shewillhavetodriveontheleftsideoftheroadfollowingtheEnglishcustoms.Ot
