DearSir/Madam,IamlookingforwardtostudyinUniversityofPortsmouthintheU.Kthisfall.Asanessentialpartofvisaapplicationprocess,Iunderstandthatatruestudyplanisimportantformyfurthersuccess.BackgroundIamtheapplicant***andIcomefromasmallcountynearShijiazuang,capitalofHebeiprovince.IhavebeenstudyingManagementScienceandEngineeringinSouthwesternJiaotongUniversitysinceSeptember,2012,whenIjustgraduatedfromNortheasternUniversityasabachelorofElectronicInformationEngineering.MychoiceofstudyingIHRMintheU.KIapplyforthesubjectofInternationalHumanResourceManagementfortworeasons.Foronereason,mytutorisdirectingaresearchonorganizationalbehaviorsinprojectmanagement,whichiscorrelativetoHRM,butnotthesame.Choosingthismajortostudywillhelpmetoconstructabetterknowledgesystem.Foranother,whichispersonalandmoreimportant,IapplyforitbecauseIknowwhatitmeanstomeandwhatIamseekingfor.IhadlittleenthusiasminmyundergraduatecoursesandtheITindustry.IonceponderedoverthequestionwhatkindofpersonIwantedtobecome.Iwanttobemanwithbroadmind,broadvisionandnovelideas.Ialsowanttogainthecapabilitytoloveandtakeresponsibilities.IgrewupinatraditionalChinesefamily.Myparentsareconservative.Thereisawidegenerationgapbetweenthemandmy17-year-oldsister,leadingtomisunderstandingsandconflicts,similartowhatIexperiencedintheearlyyears.Iunderstandthefeelingsofbothsides,butalwaysfeelhelplesstobridgethegap.HowIwishIcouldhavethewisdomtomakeusunderstandeachotherandloveeachotherinanappropriatemanner.Myexperiencesarousethemotivationtolearnmanagement,especiallysomethingrelatedtobehaviorsandmentalitydemands.Itisgreatsatisfactionandgratificationformetotakegoodcareofpeople’sdemandsthusorganizethemwell.Whatismore,IHRMisoneofthemostpromisingandpopularfield,inwhichIthinkIcouldmakeagoodlivingandfurthermycareer.HumanResourceManagementincludesrecruitment,training,performancemanagement,culturalconstructionandsoon.Ithasbeenavitallyimportantbranchofmanagementsince1960swhentheconceptof“peopleoriented”wasputforwardbyJapanese.Nowadaystopleaderspaymoreattentionontheemployees’highlevelneedsandculturalconstruction,ratherthantheworkingprocessandpaymentmanagement.Asweknow,themodernizingofChinastartedlate,andthemarketeconomyreformbeganinthelate1970s.ThemanagementtheoriesandpracticesinChinaarefarbehindthatinwesterncountries.Theconceptof“officialrankstandard”rootsdeeplyinmostChinesestate-ownedenterprises.Whileinmostsmallprivatecompanies,HRMalmostequalshiringpeople.MostprivatecompaniesinChinasurviveforless3yearswhilethestate-ownedsurferfrompoorefficiency.HowmeaningfulandconstructiveitisforustobringinadvancedmanagementtheoriesandconceptsfromtheU.Ktomakeadifference.Furthermore,theageofeconomicglobalizationhascome.AsfarasIamconcerned,IHRMcontributestoorganizingandoptimizinghumanresourceforespeciallytransnationalenterprises,leadingtoawin-winoutcomeforboththecompanyandthesociety.IfavorPortsmouthUniversitybecauseitseducationcombinestheoryandpracticeandfocusonmeetingsocialdemands,makingitbecomeoneofthemostpopularandsatisfyinguniversitiesintheeyesofChinesestudents.MyoveralleducationalgoalIhaveachievedgoodacademicperformanceinNortheasternUniversityandSouthwesternJiaotongUniversityandIgota5.5overallinIELTS.IwillretaketheIELTSexaminationforabetterscoretomeettherequirement.IfIgetthechancetostudythere,firststepofmyplanistoovercomethelanguagebarrierandadjustmyselfintothenewenvironment,includingnewteachingmethods,culturaldifferencesandenhancingmutualunderstandingbetweentheChineseandotherpeoples.Inaddition,themostimportantthingistolearnthecoursesofIHRMrelatedtoimprovemyacademicability.Moreover,Iplantovisitsometransnationalenterprisesandlearnabouttheirmanagementconceptsandmethods.IhopeIcanuselimitedtimetoacquiremoreadvancedskills,methodologiesandtheprofessionalknowledgerelatedtomymajor.FinancialSupportMyfamilycannotaffordthefeesstudyingabroad,soIamapplyingforthescholarshipfromtheChineseScholarshipCouncil,whichisenoughtosupportmostofmytuitionfeeandlivingexpenses.Iamtryingmybest.ReturntoChinaandCareerObjectiveAftergraduation,IintendtoreturntoChinaandbeginmyworktowardscontributingtothedevelopmentofthefieldofHumanResourceManagementinmycountry.Althoughtherearenumerouseffortstowardsaddressingthisissue,thenumberofspecialistsinthisfieldofexpertiseisstillsparseinChina.Thisraisesthenecessityforanewbreedofsuccessfulandskilledprofessionalstoleadinthecreationofthissystem.Asapassionateandcreativeindividual,IbelieveIamwell-suitedtocontributetooveralleffortsmeanttofillthisvoidinthejobmarket.IaimtobecomeaprofessionalwhocanfulfillthepositionsuchasanHRinatransnationalenterprise.Yours,sincerely,***
