Professors,students,ladiesandgentlemen:Goodafternoon!Itismygreathonortostandhereanddelivermyspeech.ThetitleofmyspeechisTheBeltandroad:ChinaandtheWorld.AndtodaymytopicisTheBeltandRoadcanmakeabetterchinaandabetterworld.Morethan2000yearsago,thediligentandcourageouspeopleofEurasiaexploredandopenedupseveralroutesoftradeandculturalexchangesthatlinkedthemajorcivilizationsofAsia,EuropeandAfrica,collectivelycalledtheSilkRoadbylatergenerations.Inthosedays,therewasabiggiantcalledChinastandingontheearthofEurasia.Astimewentby,hehadbeenthroughmuchoftroublesandchaos.Hebecomeweak,tiredoreven“athislastgasp”.However,thisgiantwon’tdie,hemadeitthroughtheday.Also,HebringtheSilkRoadtoourmodernsocietywhichisnowcalledThebeltandroad.WhenChinesePresidentXiJinpingvisitedCentralAsiaandSoutheastAsiainSeptemberandOctoberof2013,heraisedtheinitiativeofjointlybuildingtheSilkRoadEconomicBeltandthe21stCenturyMaritimeSilkRoadwhicharenowwecalledTheBeltandRoad.Recently,ithaveattackedcloseattentionfromallovertheworld.So,nowyoumightaskmewhatisTheBeltandRoad?WhyisitmeanssomuchtoChinaoreventotheWorld?So,first.Pleaseallowmetobeginwiththeeasiestone.TheBeltandRoadisaninitiativeandacrucialpolicythataimstousethehistoryoftheancientsilkroadsignstodevelopthealongsidecountry’seconomicpartnership,andtocreateagreatcommunitywhichincludemutualpoliticaltrust,economicintegration,andculturetolerance.Itisbasedonsixmeanpoints:cooperationpriorities,policycoordination,facilitiesconnectivity,unimpededtrade,financialintegrationandpeople-to-peoplebond.Obviously,ChinahasenteredanewperiodofdevelopmentinthechangingWorld.ThroughthedevelopmentonTheBeltandRoad,wecanconsolidatethemultilateralcooperationwithCentreAsiaandSoutheastAsia.Inthemeantime,it’stworadianteffectsgiveChinaimportantdiplomaticandeconomicleverage.Asforit’sdomesticsignificance,itcannotonlypromotethetransitionandstructureupgradingineasternregion，butalsoleadtheRiseofCentreChinaandWesternDevelopment.Atpresent,China’seconomyiscloselyconnectedwiththeworldeconomy.Chinawillstaycommittedtothebasicpolicyofopening-up,buildanewpatternofall-aroundopening-up,andintegrateitselfdeeperintotheworldeconomicsystem.TheInitiativewillenableChinatofurtherexpandanddeepenitsopening-up,andtostrengthenitsmutuallybeneficialcooperationwithcountriesinAsia,EuropeandAfricaandtherestoftheworld.Chinaiscommittedtoshoulderingmoreresponsibilitiesandobligationswithinitscapabilities,andmakinggreatercontributionstothepeaceanddevelopmentofmankind.Andus,ouryoungfuturesofChinawillworkhardonwhatwearedoingnowtobecomeausefulperson,tomakeourowncontributionstoourcountry.Let’sstartitnow!Thankyou!
