MyFirstTripintheUnitedStatesIstillremembermyfirstdayintheU.S.veryclearly.MyfriendwaswaitingformewhenmyplanelandedatKennedyAirportatthreeo’clockintheafternoon.Theweatherwasverycoldanditwassnowing,butIwastooexcitedtomind.Fromtheairport,myfriendandItookataxitomyhotel.Ontheway,IsawtheskylineofManhattanforthefirsttimeandIlookedinsurpriseatthefamousskyscrapersandtheirman-madebeauty.Helpingmeunpackatthehotel,myfriendleftandpromisedtoreturnthenextday.Shortlyaftermyfriendhadleft,Iwenttoarestaurantnearthehoteltogetsomethingtoeat.SinceIcouldn’tspeakasinglewordofEnglish,Icouldn’ttellthewaiterwhatIwanted.Iwasveryworriedandstartedtomakesomegestures,buthedidn’tunderstandme.Finally,Iorderedthesamethingasthemanatthenexttablewaseating.Afterdinner,IstartedtowalkalongBroadwayuntilIcametoTimesSquarewithitstheatres,neonlights,andcrowdsofpeople.Ididnotfeeltired,soIdeterminedtowalkaroundthecity.Iwantedtoseeeverythingonmyfirstday,althoughIknewitwasimpossible.WhenIreturnedtothehotel,Icouldn’tfallasleep,layawakeandthoughtaboutNewYork.Itwasaverybigandamazingcitywithmanyhigh-risebuildingsandstreamsofcars,andfullofnoiseandbusypeople.IalsodecidedrightthenthatIhadtolearntospeakEnglish.
