ChinaScholarshipCouncilPostgraduateScholarshipProgram1.BriefIntroductionEstablishedin2007byChinaScholarshipCouncil(CSC),anon-profitinstitutionentrustedbytheChineseGovernmenttomanagetheStateScholarshipFund,thePostgraduateScholarshipProgramaimstoimprovethetrainingofcreativeanddistinguishedpostgraduatesandenhancethedevelopmentofChina’shighereducation.From2007to2012,CSCwillsponsoreachyearuptosixthousandtalentedChinesestudentsforoverseasstudy,pursuingdoctoraldegreesorconductingacademiccooperationunderjoint-trainingprogramsatworld-classuniversity.AsoneofthemostprestigiousuniversitiesinChina,SouthChinaUniversityofTechnologyplanstosend80postgraduateseachyearunderthisprogramforoverseasstudy.Itisbelievedthatthisscholarshipprogramalsoextendsapreciousopportunityforouruniversitytoexpandandenhanceacademicandresearchcooperationwithtopuniversitiesaroundtheworld.ScholarshipBenefits:□AlivingstipendasprescribedbyChinesegovernment.Forexample,postgraduatesstudyingintheU.S.A.willreceiveastipendof1000-1100USDforonemonth.□Healthinsurance□Around-wayinternationalairfareatthebeginningandendoftheprogram2.Joint-TrainingProgramPostgraduatescurrentlyregisteredatadoctoralprogramatSouthChinaUniversityofTechnologycanapplyfor6-24mothoverseasjoint-trainingprogramsunderCSCscholarship.Thejoint-trainingprogramisorganizedunderthecooperationofdoctoralsupervisorsathomeuniversityandthehostuniversityabroad.DoctoralstudentsareexpectedtocomebacktoSouthChinaUniversityofTechnologyafterthisjointtrainingfortheirdissertationdefenseanddegreeawarding.Applicationmaterialsincludeaformalinvitationletterfromthehostsupervisor,ajointlydesignedresearchplanapprovedbybothsupervisors,andanintroductionofthehostsupervisorwithhis/herpersonalinformationandacademicachievementsduringthelastfiveyearsshouldbeincludedintheapplication.Theinvitationlettermustbeaformalletterprintedonuniversityletterheadaddressedtotheapplicantandsignedbythehostsupervisor.Thecontentshouldincludethefollowing:personalinformationofthestudentbeinginvited,periodofinvitation,majorresearchfieldandplan,statementoftuitionfeewavier,andnotestheapplicant’sEnglishlanguagemeetsthehostuniversity’slanguagerequirement.Ifanytuitionfeeorregistrationfeeisinvolvedormightoccurduringthejointtrainingthatcannotbewaived,alistofthesefeesattachedwiththeapplicationwillbeappreciated.Supervisorsathomeandabroadhavetoworktogethertodesignaresearchplanfortheapplicants.AChinese-Englishresearchplanwithnolessthan1000wordsoneachversionandsignedbybothsupervisorsinrequiredforapplication.Theintellectualpropertyrightofpublicationsorachievementrelatedtothisjoint-trainingprogramshouldberespectedfollowingrelevantrequirementsofGraduateSchoolofSouthChinaUniversityofTechnology.
