EqualityEquality“Shouldmenandwomenbeequal?”thisisanissue(问题)muchtalkedallovertheworld.Chinahasmadegreatefforttoimprovethelegalstatusofwomenandputtheprincipleofequalityintopractice.However,womenarestilldenied(否定)therighttocompetewithmenonequaltermsinmanyfields.Inthisenlightened(开明的)age,therestillexistacertainnumberofmenwhoviewwomenassecond-classcitizens.Theymaintainmanythingsmendocouldnotbedonebywomen,whoareinferior(低等的),unreliable(不可信任的),irrational(无理性的)andweak.Somemenevensayhouseworkisthewomen’staskandthewives’sacrifices(【美】牺牲)aresuretosetthehusbandsupforgreatsuccess.Sotheformershouldhavemorerightsthanthelatter.Nevertheless(然而),womenhaveshowntheirexcellenceandsuperiority(优越)inanyfields.Asfootballplayers,doctors,professors,scientists,andevenpresidentsofcountries,theyareasgoodasmenandhaveoftenputmentoshame.Theyaresoconscientious(诚实的),industrious(勤奋的),andpersevering(坚忍的)thattheyfrequentlysucceedbrilliantly(出色地)inallwalksoflifeinadditiontobearingandrearingchildren.Itgoeswithoutsayingthatfromthetimewhenmankindfirstappearedontheearth,therehavebeenmenandwomen.Humanity(人性)couldnothaveexistedandprogressed(前进)withouteitherofthem.
