Howcomeshe'sgotsomanyfriends?M:It'sreallynosurprise.YouknowshewaspopularevenwhenshewasachildQ:WhatdoesthemanimplyaboutKate?12.M:Theysaythere'llbeasnow-stormtonight,thecoldweatherwilllastquiteafewdays.W:Oh!We'resolucky,we'llbegettingawayforawhile,andhavingaholidayinFlorida.Butlet'scallrightnowtoconfirmourflight.Q:Whatdowelearnaboutthetwospeakers?13.W:Tonywasawardedamedalforrescuingseveralfamiliesfromtheforestfire.M:Ireallyadmirehiscourage.Q:WhatdowelearnaboutTonyfromtheconversation?14.M:Mywashingmachineismorethanfifteenyearsoldandithasworkedjustfineuntillastnight.W:You'llneverbeabletogetpartsforit,evenfromJapan.Soitmightbetimetoinvestamorerecentmodel.Q:Whatdoesthewomansuggestthemando?15.W:Iheardaboutyourpromotion,youmustbethrilled.M:Notreally,thenewofficeishuge,butthewordloadhasdoubled.Q:Whatdowelearnaboutthemanfromtheconversation?16.W:Ican'tdecidewhattodoaboutthepartytomorrow.M:Youdon'thavetogoifyoudon'twantto,butI'llbegladtogiveyouarideifyoudo.Q:Whatdowelearnfromtheconversation?17.M:Nowifyouhaveanyquestionsaboutthecontract.I'llbehappytoanswerthem.W:Nothingcomestomindrightnow,butI'dliketogooverallthearticlesofthecontractoncemorebeforesigningit.Q:Whatarethespeakersdoingrightnow?18.M:Weareoutofpaperfortheprinter.Canyoupleaseordersome?W:Icompletedtheorderformonlineyesterdayanditwillbeherebynoon.I'llletyouknowwhenitcomesin.Q:Whatdidthewomando? He’sayoung,successfulexecutiveatanInternet-servicescompanyinTokyoandhasplentyofdisposablebudget.HeusedtoownToyota’sHiluxSurf,asportutilityvehicle.Butnowheusesmostlysubwaysandgrains.“It’snotinconvenientatall,”hesaysbesides,“havingacarisso20thcentury.”SudareflectsaworrisometrendinJapan;theautomobileislosingitsemotionalappeal,particularlyamongtheyoung,whoprefertospendtheirmoneyonthelatestelectronicdevices.whilemini-carsandluxuryforeignbrandsarestillpopular,everythinginbetweenisshaking.Lastyearssalesfell6.7percent,7.6percentifyoudon’tcountthemini-carmarket.Therehavebeenlargerone-yeardropsinothernations:salesinGermanyfell9percentin2007inviewofataxincrease.ButexpertssayJapanisuniqueinthatsaleshavebeendecreasingsteadilyovertime.Since1990,yearlynew-carsaleshavefallenfrom7.8millionto5.4millionunitsin2007.Alarmedbythisstateofdecay,theJapanAutomobileManufacturersAssociation(JAMA)proceededacomprehensivestudyofthemarketin2006.Itfoundthatawideningwealthgap,demographic(人口结构的)changesandmassivelackofinterestincarsledJapanesetoholdtheirvehicleslonger,replacetheircarswithsmalleronesorgiveupcarownershipaltogether.JAMApredictafurthersalesdeclineof1.2percentthisyear.Someexpertsbelievethatifthetrendcontinuesformuchlonger,furtherconsolidation(合并)intheautomotivesectorislikely87Havingspentsometimeinthecity,hehadnotroublefindingthewaytothehistorymuseum88topayformyeducation/topaymytuitionfeesMotheroftentakesonmoreworkthanisgoodforher.89Theprofessorrequiredthatwe(should)handinour/theresearchreport(s)90Themoreyouexplain,themoreconfusedIam91Thoughaskilledworker,hewasfiredbythecompanylastweekbecauseoftheeconomiccrisis. Thecollegegraduatesconstantlycomplainaboutbeingrejectedbysomepromisingcompanyinthejob-huntingmarket.2.Evenmostjobsprovidedinthejob-huntingdeclaredlyexcludedthegraduates,onlywelcomingtheexperiencedemployees.Evenworse,en
