154Vol.15,No.4200312JournalofLakeSciencesDec.,2003**370154371’37215º´º´ºº4373º´º´37415437537615“”TheClimateofLittleIceAgeMaximuminChinaWANGSumin1,LIUJian1&ZHOUJing12(1:NanjingInstituteofGeographyandLiminology,ChineseAcademyofScience,Nanjing210008P.R.China;2:GraduateSchoolofChineseAcademicofScience,Beijing100039P.R.China)AbstractLittleIceAge(LIA)istheglobalcoldeventnearesttomoderntime,havinganimportanteffectonthedevel-opmentofsocietyandeconomythroughouttheworldandinChina.Asakeyperiod,itisnowbeingusedtoex-ploretherelationshipbetweenhistoricalclimateandhumanactivity.Basedonhistoricaldocumentsandtheresultofhighresolutionproxies(icecore,tree-ring,lakesediment,stalagmite)inrecentyears,incorporatingwithpartoftheforeignresearches,severalcharacteristicsofLIAarediscussedinthispaper,includingtheclimaticevolu-tionalprocessfromhigh-latitudeandhigh-altituderegionstomid-latitudeandlow-altituderegionsandhowthemonsooninfluencestheuniversaltemperaturedecreaseofwiderangein17century,themaximumofLIA,andthevariationanddistributionofprecipitation.Byverifyingtheclimatesimulationswiththeseresults,palaeo-analoguecanbeobtainedtopredictthecoldoscillationintheglobalwarmingbackground.Keywords:Historicalclimate;LittleIceAgeMaximum;China
